Job Description

SANA Step-Up Centers support the recovery of our clients through a variety of programmes and services aimed at enhancing the reintegration and recovery of drug users in the community. The counsellor will carry out counselling and psychotherapy to clients, as well as support the programmes and services of Step-Up Centers. Programmes include casework, support groups and prosocial interest groups. Step-Up Centers are open to recovering persons, their families or anyone requiring help on drug-related issues. Strategically located at community centers, SANA operates three Step-Up Centers - Step-Up @Sengkang, Step-Up @Taman Jurong and Step-Up @Northwest.

Counselling and Psychotherapy

  1. Provide counselling and psychotherapy to persons recovering from substance abuse and their concerned significant others.
  2. Assist Head & Step-Up to manage counselling and psychotherapy services.
  3. Follow prevailing agency work processes and professional standards when carrying out counselling and psychotherapy.
  4. Suggest feedback to improve counseling and psychotherapy services based on observations, practice experience and feedback from clients.

Operational Duties

  1. Carry out operational duties of Step-Up centers, which can include attending to walk-in clients or enquiries, facilitating televisit services, and other center duties as required.
  2. Review and maintain services and documentation of cases.
  3. Commit to working an afternoon shift (2pm to 9pm) at least once a week and on weekends as required for events.
  4. Travel to the three Step-Up centres as required.

Programme Development & Facilitation

  1. Develop, implement and review current and new programmes such as recovery support groups and prosocial interest groups (e.g. Sports, Art and Music programmes).
  2. Conduct group work sessions / facilitate recovery support groups

Casework

  1. Conduct intake assessments and provide casework support to persons-in-recovery and/or families.

Additional Duties

  1. Take on project / event-based activities assigned by supervisor to advance the interest and mission of SANA.

Requirements and Competencies

  1. At least Master's Degree in Psychology or Counselling.
  2. Two years of relevant experience preferred.
  3. Prior experience in rehabilitation and addictions work would be an advantage.
  4. Certification in addiction work would be an advantage.
