Job Description

Job Title: Counsellor

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Counsellor to provide counselling services and develop programmes for older persons and their caregivers. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, starting with a one-year contract, with the potential for conversion to a permanent position based onperformance and organisational needs.

Key Responsibilities

A. Clinical Practice

  • Conduct individual, group, and family counselling sessions for older persons and their caregivers
  • Perform assessments, treatment planning, and crisis intervention using evidence-based modalities
  • Deliver counselling through face-to-face sessions, home visits, telephone, and centre-based services, in accordance with Counselling SOPs
  • Plan and facilitate preventive and therapeutic group work and psycho-educational programmes for clients and families
  • Ensure high service quality, including meeting Session Rating Scales (SRS) and Outcome Rating Scales (ORS) outcomes
  • Maintain timely and accurate case documentation and statistics
  • Link clients and families to appropriate community-based or clinical services
  • Participate in internal and external clinical supervision, prepared with case reflections and session video recordings (with client consent)
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external agencies

B. Programme Development, Implementation & Evaluation

  • Research, design, and innovate intervention programmes tailored to older persons and caregivers
  • Conduct talks, workshops, and outreach activities to promote mental wellness and awareness
  • Provide training for volunteers and support capacity building initiatives

C. Administration

  • Maintain accurate and timely client and programme records for NCSS reporting
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and security guidelines
  • Participate in internal meetings and organisational events, including roadshows and fundraising activities

D. Professional Development & Leadership

  • Engage in reflective practice, supervision, and continuous training
  • Contribute to team learning through case sharing and presentations

E. Other Duties

  • Support advocacy efforts by promoting awareness of SAGE's services and networking with partner agencies
  • Undertake other relevant duties as assigned by the Centre Manager or Executive Director

Requirements

  • Minimum Master's degree in Counselling or Family Therapy
  • 1-2 years of relevant working experience preferred
  • Preferably a registered practitioner with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC)
  • Basic knowledge of counselling theories and therapeutic modalities
  • Strong programme delivery, facilitation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable facilitating group sessions
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and keen to learn and take on new responsibilities
