We are seeking a Corporate Communications Specialist to support the Alliance's communications efforts. Reporting to the Director, Communications, the successful candidate will work cross-functionally across the organisation to plan and deliver communications initiatives that strengthen the Alliance's credibility and influence with key stakeholders.
This role requires a communications professional who can quickly connect developments across the organisation, synthesise complex information, and translate it into clear and effective communications. The successful candidate will be proactive, highly organised, and comfortable managing multiple communications workstreams in a fast-moving, multi-stakeholder environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
External communications
- Support the development and implementation of communications initiatives that advance the Alliance's strategic priorities and strengthen its reputation.
- Manage media engagement, including handling inquiries, coordinating interviews, and preparing spokespeople for effective media interactions.
- Draft and review key communications materials including executive briefings, talking points, opinion pieces, and stakeholder communications.
- Coordinate closely with the Alliance's external communications agencies, ensuring they are properly briefed, equipped with relevant information, and aligned on priorities and timelines.
- Exercise sound judgement in identifying developments, insights, and updates that should inform external communications and agency workstreams.
- Monitor developments relevant to the Alliance's work and identify opportunities to communicate the organisation's impact and perspectives.
- Coordinate with colleagues across the organisation to gather inputs, align stakeholders, and ensure communications outputs reflect organisational priorities.
- Manage communications workstreams from planning through execution, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and to a high standard.
Internal communications
- Support internal communications that keep teams informed and aligned on organisational priorities and initiatives.
- Draft internal communications materials including leadership messages, internal updates, and organisational announcements.
- Work with colleagues across teams to ensure key developments, milestones, and insights are communicated clearly within the organisation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling communications across different formats and audiences.
- Strong analytical ability, with the capacity to absorb and interpret large amounts of information and distil key insights relevant to communications.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong relationships with key media and journalists, with the ability to secure coverage aligned to organisational priorities.
- Awareness of developments in the external environment, including media, policy, and trends related to waste management and plastics.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work independently.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, able to anticipate needs and identify opportunities to strengthen communications.
- Strong understanding of the media landscape, with experience supporting media and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing demands.
