Job Description & Requirements:

Corporate Affairs Executive, APMEA works together with the Sr. Communications Manager, APMEA, to support the APMEA region and provide expertise on BAT's communications and sustainability agenda. The incumbent will contribute regional insights, manage, and deliver above-market communications plans and key initiatives, while providing technical support to the end markets and serves as a link between the region and DRBUs and the central Corporate Affairs team.

Key Accountabilities:

The Corporate Affairs Executive, APMEA supports the Sr. Communications Manager APMEA, the Regional team, and DRBU CORA (Corporate and Regulatory Affairs) teams by:

  • Supporting business communications and sustainability activities across the APMEA region, acting as a key point of coordination and providing day-to-day technical support and guidance to DRBUs. The role works closely with the Sr. Communications Manager APMEA to support the Regional Director and Regional Head of Legal & CORA in delivering proactive communications across the region and serves as a central liaison for Corporate Affairs-related developments within APMEA.
  • Facilitating effective communications between the central Corporate Affairs teams, the APMEA region, and DRBU Corporate Affairs and Business Communications leads, including:

- Supporting APMEA representatives within the global Corporate Affairs network, alongside DRBUs, to enable effective information sharing and cascade across the region.

- Keeping Corporate Affairs leads and managers informed of ongoing and upcoming Corporate Affairs initiatives and priorities.

- Supporting DRBUs in the roll-out of global communications initiatives (Corporate Brand, External Comms, Internal Comms, Scientific Comms, Sustainability Comms) in local markets, and coordinating implementation for the RSU.

- Monitoring and consolidating key Business Communications highlights from the region and reporting them to the Sr. Business Communications Manager APMEA.

- Supporting alignment of internal and external messaging with global positions on key issues in a timely and consistent manner.

  • Assisting with internal communications for the APMEA RSU (Singapore-based), including helping to ensure that Group Corporate Affairs initiatives and updates are effectively cascaded.
  • Contributing to the development and execution of short- and long-term communications cycle plans for DRBUs, including input into messaging, channel selection, localisation of global Corporate Affairs milestones, and support for monitoring and impact analysis to help build a positive narrative around BAT's ABT/THR agenda.
  • Supporting the sharing of best practices and providing technical input to help strengthen end-market communications capabilities and media strategies.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of communications plans for the APMEA Regional Director and Regional Leadership Teams, as appropriate.
  • Supporting the identification and coordination of internal and external communications opportunities linked to the travel and engagements of central spokespeople (eg. Regional Director, Management Board members).
  • Collaborating with cross-functional regional teams to support and amplify communications for ongoing campaigns, initiatives, and projects.
  • Supporting engagement with key external media and corporate engagement stakeholders (including journalists, think tanks, and agencies) to help identify and facilitate media and thought leadership opportunities within the region.
  • Ensuring alignment on internal/ external messages with the global positions on key issues in a timely manner.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Expertise Required:

  • Minimum years of experience: 1- 2 years in Corporate Communications. Mid-level comms professional with proven experience in comparable global comms roles.
  • Educated to degree level. Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
  • Strong experience in managing communications strategy through a variety of channels to reach large audiences in diverse locations.
  • Experience of executing all elements of communications to a high standard (incl. planning, channel management, all written materials across multiple channels).
  • Proven ability for a credible stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communications skills.
