Job Description

Mercy Relief (MR) is a non-profit organisation in Singapore and a leading agency in delivering humanitarian relief programmes to communities affected by disasters globally. [Learn more about MR's mission and impact at - www.mercyrelief.org.]

The Corporate Administration & Finance (CAF) team is the backbone of the organisation, driving the excellent management of administrative and financial operations, enabling effective and efficient performance of MR's programmes and day-to-day activities.

The team is seeking an individual that combines an aptitude for efficiency, compliance and governance in Singapore's non-profit sector, and a desire to build internal capabilities empowering MR to multiply the impact and value created for its beneficiaries and stakeholders.

Desired outcomes of the role:

Finance management ( 50%)

  • Efficiency of MR's day-to-day financial operations, ensuring finances are accounted for on-time and on-target.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of MR's monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounting, audits and reporting in accordance with organisational policies and statutory requirements (e.g. the Charities Act, Charity Code of Governance, IPC requirements and other relevant regulations etc.).
  • Effectiveness and accuracy of budgeting and forecasting resource requirements to enable the organisation's strategic imperatives and growth aspirations are met.
  • Continual improvement of administrative and financial systems through data-driven feedback loops, process innovation, application of technology and effective vendor management.

Administration ( 30%)

  • Effectiveness of MR's procurement and contract management, ensuring goods and services are provided to meet MR's requirements on-time and on-target.
  • Effectiveness and efficiency of MR's human resource and talent management systems and processes.
  • Effectiveness of MR's knowledge management systems and processes.
  • Effectiveness of secretarial processes to support reporting and accountability to the Board of Directors.

General management ( 10%)

  • Effectiveness of managing MR's facilities to create a conducive work environment and a welcoming space to engage stakeholders and the wider community.

Cross-functional projects and exposure to other aspects of MR's work (10%)

  • Where need and opportunities arise, collaborate with other functions to realise meaningful initiatives and programmes that contribute wholistically to MR's organisational development and impact.


Desired qualifications and traits:

  • At least 3 years in roles driving similar outcomes with demonstrable results. (Note: Salary, designation and benefits will be commensurate with experience, qualifications and potential.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields. A relevant Master's degree, and/or professional qualification (or with near and expected completion) is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and standard office tools.
  • Working knowledge of non-profit/charity accounting, audit, administrative and governance requirements, and statutory compliance frameworks in Singapore is preferred.
  • Strong organisational, time management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking ability, with a data-driven and evidence-based approach towards problem-solving.
  • Strong sense of stewardship to maximise and multiply organisational and donor resources.
  • Growth mind-set underpinned by passion and curiosity about how good financial management and administration can enable stronger organisational performance and delivery of humanitarian and disaster relief outcomes.
  • Desire and willingness to learn and grow alongside likeminded individuals, MR and humanitarian actors in Singapore (and beyond!).
