Job Description:
1. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes in line with the establishment's recipes, standards, and portion control guidelines, ensuring consistent taste, quality, and presentation at all times.
2. Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking schedules, and plating, to ensure smooth service during peak and non-peak hours.
3. Monitor food stock levels, conduct regular inventory checks, and report on ingredient usage to minimize waste and support cost control efforts.
4. Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards (including HACCP requirements) and Singapore's environmental health regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
5. Supervise junior kitchen staff (cooks/helpers), provide guidance on cooking techniques, and ensure all team members follow proper procedures and safety protocols.
6. Assist in developing new menu items, modifying existing recipes, and providing feedback on dish performance to align with customer preferences and business goals.
7. Conduct routine maintenance checks on kitchen equipment, report any faults or issues to the supervisor, and ensure tools are properly cleaned and stored after use.
8. Follow all workplace safety rules, including proper handling of kitchen tools, chemicals, and hot surfaces, to prevent accidents and injuries.
Job Requirements:
1. Minimum 2-3 years of proven working experience as a Cook/Senior Cook in a commercial kitchen (e.g., restaurant, hotel, or food service establishment in Singapore is preferred).
2. Possess relevant culinary certifications (e.g., WSQ Food Safety Course Level 2, or equivalent) and a strong understanding of local and/or international cuisine preparation.
3. Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards, and HACCP principles, with the ability to implement them in daily operations.
4. Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service hours, while maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
5. Good communication skills in English, with the ability to follow instructions clearly and coordinate effectively with the kitchen team.
6. Physically fit to stand for long hours, lift heavy items, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
7. Flexible to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime as required by the business.
8. Team-oriented, responsible, and reliable, with a positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining high kitchen standards.
