Job Summary
The Contracts Manager leads contract administration and advisory functions to ensure compliance, risk mitigation, and effective dispute resolution, driving successful project delivery within the Singapore construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Administer contracts by liaising with clients, authorities, QPs, and architects to resolve contractual matters and ensure alignment with project requirements
- Provide clear contractual advisory to senior management, project managers, and project staff to ensure understanding and compliance with contract terms and procedures
- Analyze contractual risks, identify potential exposures, and propose mitigation measures to minimize cost and technical risks
- Apply knowledge of PSSCOC, REDAS, SIA contractual legislations, and SOP Act to ensure contract compliance and risk management
- Lead the preparation and notification of extension of time requests, contractual claims, variations, and related loss and expense claims to clients and sub-contractors
- Resolve disputes arising from project execution through effective negotiation and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop procurement strategies and advise on cost control measures for sub-contracting and variation orders to maintain project budgets and timelines
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable agreements
- Settle final accounts with clients and subcontractors to close out contracts accurately and efficiently
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance contract management practices in compliance with Singaporean laws and regulations
- Report contract status, risks, and outcomes to contract directors and senior management to support strategic decision-making
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, quantity surveyor or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction management within the Singapore construction industry, demonstrating a proven track record of successful project completion
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, techniques, codes, and regulations
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to influence and guide project teams and stakeholders
- Proficiency in project management software and tools to support contract administration and reporting
- Understanding of safety regulations and best practices relevant to construction projects
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address contractual and project challenges
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Other Information
- Work schedule: 5 days per week
- Working hours: 08:30 to 18:30 (Monday to Thursday), 08:30 to 17:30 (Friday)
- Salary range: S$3500 - S$6000 (Based on Experience)
- Location: Eunos (Head Office)
