Overview Of Role

The Contracts Analyst is responsible for the preparation, review, execution, and maintenance of trading contracts and confirmations for assigned commodity products, ensuring accuracy against agreed commercial terms and compliance with approved templates, policies, and controls. The role supports efficient trade execution while managing contractual and operational risk across the trade lifecycle.

Main Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts supporting physical oil & products trading activities.
  • Ensure the accuracy of data in the system through validation of the daily trade entries.
  • Review and negotiate General Terms & Conditions, ensuring alignment with internal risk frameworks and commercial objectives.
  • Analyse contractual terms to identify commercial, operational and legal risk, ensuring appropriate protections are embedded and issues are escalated where required.
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing refinement of procedures, controls and systems in response to new products, markets or business activities.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice.
  • Support the management of disputes, claims and operational issues arising during the performance of trades, working closely with internal stakeholders and counsel.
  • Perform other ad-hoc duties assigned by manager

Profile


The individual should have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, or equivalent.
  • 2–5 years of experience in Trading Operations, Trade Support, or Contracts Administration, preferably within commodities or financial markets.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and their application in trade.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in fast‑paced trading environments
  • Ability to analyse contractual structures and assess risks and opportunities pragmatically
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain contractual positions clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of contractual risk allocation (liability, indemnities, insurance)
  • High attention to detail with ability to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risk exposure
  • Highly organised and resilient, able to manage multiple live transactions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
