About the Role:
The Talent Manager partners with editorial, creative and production teams to source, develop, manage and retain on-screen and off-screen talent across SPH Media's video ecosystem. This role ensures that the right presenters, hosts, contributors, creators and subject-matter experts are matched to the right shows and formats. The Talent Manager nurture growth, strengthens performance on-camera, and builds a sustainable bench of personalities who reflect the organisation's editorial values, brand identities and audience needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a long-term talent roadmap aligned with editorial priorities, show pipelines and platform strategies.
- Identify emerging and existing talent - presenters, hosts, commentators, content creators - who can strengthen SPH Media's video presence.
- Develop and execute talent development plans (coaching, media training, brand/newsroom positioning)
- Serve as the primary liaison for talent throughout pre-production, production and post. Provide feedback collaboratively to improve delivery, pacing, tone and on-screen presence.
- Resolve issues professionally and manage expectations around availability, commitments and performance.
- Coordinate with HR, Legal and Finance on talent agreements, rates, conflicts of interest and compliance.
- Ensure all engagements follow internal policies, brand safety guidelines and journalistic standards.
- Monitor audience response, social performance and editorial feedback to identify breakout talent and opportunities for growth
- Lead a structured proposal to identify, vet and onboard independent content creators aligned with newsroom values and editorial standards.
- Create a clear selection framework including guidelines, evaluation matrix, brand safety checks and fit assessment
Requirements
- 6+ years in talent management, casting, talent development, entertainment, media or related industries.
- Strong understanding of on-camera performance, audience behaviour and content formats (news, current affairs, lifestyle, digital video).
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; able to balance the needs of talent with organisational priorities.
- Strong organisational ability - able to track multiple talent, shoots, commitments and issues simultaneously.
- Comfortable giving clear, actionable feedback to improve on-screen performance.
- Experience working with content creators, influencers or digital talent is an advantage.
- High discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive personal or contractual information.
