Job Description
The Fauna Consultant leads fauna-related components of Environmental and Biodiversity Impact Assessments, ensuring compliance with regulations and sustainable development standards. The role combines technical expertise in wildlife ecology with project management and consultancy skills, including tender preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct baseline fauna surveys and habitat mapping.
- Assess project impacts on species, habitats, and biodiversity.
- Develop mitigation measures, biodiversity offsets and management plans.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and field teams.
- Prepare technical reports, EIAs, and biodiversity assessments.
- Draft tender documents and proposals (scope, methodology, budgets).
- Liaise with regulators, clients, and stakeholders.
- Engage communities and integrate local ecological knowledge.
Qualifications
- Degree in Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience in fauna surveys, EIAs, and biodiversity assessments.
- Strong project management and proposal/tender preparation skills.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and international biodiversity standards.
- Proficiency in GIS, ecological modelling, and technical reporting.
Experience
Consultant: Minimum
13 years relevant experience in fauna surveys and environmental/ biodiversity impact assessment.
Senior Consultant: Minimum
58 years relevant experience, with proven leadership in project management and tender preparation
