Job Summary

Join Oskefer Consulting as a Consultant or Senior Consultant in Materials Failure Investigation, working on high-profile forensic cases with regional and international clients and advancing toward senior leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings, condition-monitoring data, maintenance records, incident reports, and CCTV footage to identify failure mechanisms in engineering materials.
  • Plan and conduct site investigations across Southeast Asia and other regions to collect evidence and assess material failures.
  • Coordinate with third-party laboratories to define testing requirements and oversee testing processes for accurate material analysis.
  • Draft clear, evidence-based technical reports and deliver presentations tailored to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Represent Oskefer at client meetings, conferences, and industry events to build relationships and promote expertise.
  • Support colleagues by providing technical advice on materials failure cases and mentor junior consultants to develop their skills.
  • Contribute to business development by assisting with proposals, marketing initiatives, and knowledge-sharing activities.

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering (in relation to metallurgy or metallic materials) with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience or PhD in Materials Science and Engineering in relation to metallurgy or metallic materials (fresh graduates encouraged to apply for senior consultant roles) Bachelor's degree with extensive relevant experience also considered.
  • Proven expertise in engineering materials, including metals, alloys, polymers, and ceramics, with strong skills in fractography, failure modes, and material testing interpretation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills applied to complex failure investigations.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills fluency in Chinese, Malay, or Bahasa is advantageous for effective communication during site visits in Malaysia, Indonesia, and China.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple assignments simultaneously, and travel on short notice.
