Construction Underwriter

Role Overview:
You will be responsible for assessing, underwriting, and structuring insurance risks related to construction and engineering projects. The role requires working closely with risk engineering and claims teams to manage exposures and develop tailored coverage solutions that align with the company's strategic objectives.
Key Skills & Experience:
• 5-8 years relevant experience in (re)insurance underwriting within Construction or Engineering fields. Professional underwriting backgrounds in other lines of business will also be considered
• Engineering academic background (civil, structural, mechanical) or relevant experience in engineering industries
• Strong technical understanding of construction methodologies, project risks, and contract structures
• Knowledge of policy wordings, reinsurance structures, and underwriting governance
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
• Ability to make sound risk decisions under time pressure
Key Responsibilities:
• Underwrite Construction and Engineering risks, including CAR/EAR, infrastructure, and major projects, within authority and pricing frameworks
• Assess submissions, determine coverage terms, negotiate with brokers, and structure policies
• Collaborate with risk engineering and claims teams to evaluate exposures and identify risk improvements
• Support portfolio management through monitoring aggregate exposures and profitability
• Contribute to business development efforts by maintaining broker relationships and supporting renewal activities
• Ensure underwriting complies with internal and regulatory governance
