(Infrastructure / Process / Data Centre / Energy / Industrial Projects)
Role Purpose
The Project Director shall have full P&L accountability for assigned business units and projects, responsible for business growth, commercial performance, technical governance, risk management, and delivery excellence across complex industrial and infrastructure projects.
This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate at Board, Client, and Site level simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Commercial Leadership
- Drive strategic business development by securing new key accounts, long-term framework contracts, and repeat business.
- Lead go/no-go decisions for tenders based on commercial risk, margin, capacity, and contractual exposure.
- Develop and approve project budgets, cashflow forecasts, and profitability targets.
- Own project P&L performance and be accountable for margin, cost recovery, and financial discipline.
Contract & Claims Management
- Lead all contractual negotiations, including EPC, EPCM, Design & Build, and Term contracts.
- Direct management of:
- Variations & Change Orders
- Delay Analysis & EOT
- Disruption & Prolongation Claims
- Represent company in SOP adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure all contracts include risk-limiting clauses (liability caps, payment protection, termination rights).
Project Governance & Delivery
- Establish and enforce project governance frameworks, reporting structures, and performance KPIs.
- Chair:
- Kick-Off Meetings (KOM)
- Monthly Steering Committees
- Executive Risk Reviews
- Ensure all projects achieve:
- Cost control
- Schedule compliance
- Quality assurance
- HSE performance
- Intervene decisively in failing or distressed projects.
Technical & Engineering Authority
- Provide technical leadership across:
- Process & Plant Piping
- Cross-country pipelines
- Cryogenic & complex process systems
- Industrial mechanical systems
- Review and approve:
- Engineering designs
- Method statements
- Construction sequencing
- Commissioning strategies
- Drive constructability and value engineering to reduce lifecycle cost.
Stakeholder & Client Leadership
- Act as single point of accountability for key clients, authorities, and strategic partners.
- Lead executive-level engagements with:
- Main Contractors
- LTA / BCA / MOM
- Consultants and Developers
- Resolve conflicts at senior level and protect company commercial position.
Organisational Leadership
- Build, mentor, and discipline multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Approve senior hiring and performance reviews.
- Enforce a culture of:
- Accountability
- Commercial awareness
- Safety leadership
- Delivery excellence
Mandatory Experience & Competency (Strict Screening)
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 20 years proven experience in:
- Energy / Waste-to-Energy
- Oil & Gas
- Infrastructure / Data Centres
- Demonstrated track record in:
- EPC / EPCM project leadership
- Managing projects SGD 50 million
- Contract claims and dispute resolution
- Deep expertise in:
- Process & Plant Piping Systems
- Fabrication, Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Onshore LNG / Cryogenic Systems
Qualifications
- Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Advanced Diploma / Post-Diploma or equivalent professional qualifications preferred.
Systems & Tools (Non-Negotiable)
- Advanced user of:
- Primavera P6
- MS Project
- Microsoft Office (Excel financial modelling essential)
