The Construction Carpenter / Supervisor is responsible for overseeing carpentry works on-site, ensuring all construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in accordance with project specifications and timelines. This role combines hands-on carpentry skills with supervisory responsibilities to manage workers, materials, and daily site operations.
Key Responsibilities (KPB):
1. Site Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate daily carpentry activities on construction sites
- Assign tasks to workers and ensure work is completed according to drawings and specifications
- Liaise with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow
- Monitor project progress and report updates to management
2. Carpentry Work Execution
- Perform and oversee carpentry works including formwork, framework, installation, and finishing
- Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical plans
- Ensure all carpentry works meet quality standards and project requirements
3. Quality Control
- Inspect completed works to ensure compliance with design specifications and workmanship standards
- Identify defects and ensure timely rectification
- Maintain high standards of accuracy and finishing in all carpentry tasks
4. Safety Compliance
- Enforce workplace safety regulations and ensure all workers adhere to safety procedures
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate risks
- Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
5. Workforce Management
- Supervise, guide, and train carpenters and general workers
- Monitor worker productivity and performance
- Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to site rules
6. Material & Resource Management
- Plan and manage material usage to minimize wastage
- Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery of materials
- Maintain inventory of tools and equipment
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Completion of carpentry works within project timelines
- Quality of workmanship (minimal defects and rework)
- Compliance with safety standards (zero or minimal incidents)
- Efficient use of materials (reduced wastage)
- Productivity and performance of site workers
- Accuracy in interpreting drawings and executing work
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience as a carpenter in construction, with supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and plans
- Good leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and regulations
- Physically fit and able to work on-site
