Concrete Pump Fleet Operations Supervisor / Manager
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Concrete Pump Fleet Operations Supervisor / Manager to oversee the daily operations of our concrete pump fleet.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating concrete pumping operations with clients, Resident Engineers (REs), Resident Technical Officers (RTOs), main contractors, subcontractors, internal stakeholders, operators, mechanics and other workers involved in the delivery of concrete pumping services.
This is primarily a field-, yard- and site-based operational role. The candidate will be expected to take direct responsibility for planning, coordinating, deploying and supervising concrete pumps, operators and supporting personnel, while ensuring that all works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with client requirements, contractual obligations and project schedules.
The candidate should have a strong practical understanding of all aspects of concrete pump fleet operations, including pumping arrangements, deployment, logistics, machinery maintenance and repair, operator management, troubleshooting, site coordination and record keeping.
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organised and capable of communicating effectively with clients, workers and stakeholders at all levels. A significant portion of the role will involve hands-on operational management, including guiding operators, coordinating pumping activities at site, resolving operational issues and ensuring that the fleet is maintained and deployed effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence are essential. The candidate must be able to establish trust and confidence when dealing with clients, REs/RTOs, main contractors, subcontractors, operators, workers, vendors and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the Company professionally at all times and uphold the highest standards of honesty, integrity and responsibility.
- Directly supervise, guide and manage operators and workers in carrying out concrete pumping operations.
- Read, understand and implement client requirements, instructions, drawings, specifications and relevant contract documents.
- Prepare pumping proposals, pumping plans, technical recommendations, work arrangements and operational schedules where required.
- Plan and arrange the deployment of concrete pumps, operators, mechanics and supporting workers according to project requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of each client's pumping requirements, casting sequence, programme and schedule.
- Coordinate day-to-day concrete pumping activities with clients, site teams, REs, RTOs, main contractors, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
- Lead the logistics, mobilisation, deployment and allocation of concrete pumps and supporting machinery.
- Monitor the availability, condition, maintenance and repair requirements of the concrete pump fleet.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs and troubleshooting to minimise equipment downtime.
- Guide operators and mechanics in resolving operational and equipment-related issues.
- Ensure concrete pumping works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Attend required safety meetings and carry out regular safety inspections and audits involving operators, workers and equipment.
- Work closely with the Company's safety personnel to ensure compliance with all applicable workplace safety requirements.
- Coordinate inspections, work verifications and other site requirements with the client's REs, RTOs and supervisory personnel.
- Prepare short-term and look-ahead schedules and assist the General Manager with longer-term operational planning.
- Identify and resolve operational, logistical and coordination issues arising between concrete pumping operations and other trades or contractors.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the General Manager and operation team regarding progress, deployment, breakdowns, manpower and site issues.
- Ensure all operational information, schedules and instructions are current and properly communicated to the relevant personnel.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of pumping works, including deployment records, daily work records, machinery records, delivery information, inspection records, maintenance records and other supporting documents.
- Prepare checklists, inspection forms, safety documents, reports and other records required by clients or management.
- Ensure completed works and services are properly recorded, acknowledged and documented for operational, contractual and billing purposes.
- Comply with all Company policies, procedures and management requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must possess a valid BCSS certificate or equivalent recognised safety qualification where applicable.
- Strong background as a Concrete Pump Fleet Operations Supervisor, Foreman, Operations Manager or similar role.
- Preferably at least 10 years of relevant experience in concrete pump fleet operations, site supervision or related construction operations.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of concrete pumping operations, equipment deployment, logistics, maintenance, troubleshooting and site coordination.
- Ability to supervise, guide and train concrete pump operators, mechanics and workers.
- Good working knowledge of reinforced concrete construction and concrete casting operations.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, structural drawings, engineering plans, specifications and schematics relevant to reinforced concrete and construction works.
- Good understanding of construction site operations, temporary facilities and coordination between different trades.
- Computer literate and able to use Microsoft Excel, Word, email and other common computer-based tools.
- Able to prepare operational records, checklists, reports, schedules and basic technical documentation.
- Strong leadership, communication, coordination and organisational skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with clients, management, operators, workers, REs/RTOs, contractors, subcontractors and vendors.
- Able to work independently, take ownership of operational matters and respond promptly to site and equipment issues.
- Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to work hands-on in the field, yard and construction sites.
