Computer-Assisted Design Engineer
The Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) Engineer is responsible foranalyzing, designing, and customizing complex engineering projects related to well Bore Completions Tools. This role requires the independent application of advanced engineering principles, extensive product knowledge, and expertise in CAD, PDM, and PLM systems. The position supports product development, validation, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with API and ASME standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, customize, and design multiple engineering projects, including highly complex assignments requiring independent technical judgment.
- Plan and execute projects with wide latitude for independent decision-making.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in standard materials and components used in well bore completion tools evaluate and recommend alternative materials when required.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and field teams to troubleshoot and resolve product-related issues.
- Incorporate Reliability, HSE (Health, Safety& Environment), and Quality analysis techniques throughout the design process.
- Define and develop testing procedures where no precedent exists assess testing facility capabilities and recommend upgrades where necessary.
Perform engineering calculations including:
o Tubing burst and collapse pressure
o Tensile load capacity
o Torque calculations
- Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools such as ANSYS and SolidWorks Simulation for design validation.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings in compliance with ASME standards, including proper application of GD&T.
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure design manufacturability and functional integrity. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with API guidelines and specifications.
- Develop, apply, and maintain company-sanctioned engineering standards and technical specifications.
- Utilize PDM and PLM systems for document control, design revisions, and lifecycle management.
- Provide technical consultation and support to internal and external stakeholders document technology transfer activities where appropriate.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.
- Apply project management principles to organize, track, and execute engineering assignments effectively.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Strong experience in PDM and PLM systems.
- Expertise in engineering calculations related to well bore completion tools.
- Experience performing FEA using ANSYS and/or SolidWorks Simulation.
- Strong knowledge of ASME standards and GD&T.
- Knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Understanding of API manufacturing guidelines and specifications.
