Job Purpose
We are seeking a Compliance Specialist, Transaction Monitoring to support the review and investigation of transactions to identify potential AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime risks. The role involves working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and support the organization's financial crime compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct second-level reviews of escalated transactions to identify potential AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime risks.
- Review trade finance transactions, remittances, cheque transactions, cash transactions, and other transaction types referred by Business Units or Operations.
- Perform pre-transaction reviews and provide compliance guidance or approvals where required.
- Review and investigate alerts generated through the Bank's Transaction Monitoring System.
- Analyze transaction activities to identify unusual or suspicious patterns.
- Prepare investigation reports, risk assessments, and compliance recommendations with clear documentation.
- Escalate suspicious transactions in accordance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Business Units, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to provide guidance on transaction monitoring matters.
- Assist with AML reporting, watchlist reviews, and transaction monitoring activities.
- Maintain compliance records, monitoring lists, and supporting documentation.
- Support KYC reviews, audit requests, compliance reporting, and other compliance-related activities.
- Keep up to date with applicable AML/CFT regulations, sanctions requirements, and emerging financial crime trends.
- Contribute to process improvements that strengthen transaction monitoring controls and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties assigned within the Compliance function.
Requirements
- Degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Law, Accountancy, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in the banking or financial services industry.
- At least 2 years of experience in AML/CFT compliance, transaction monitoring, financial crime investigations, or transaction due diligence.
- Experience reviewing trade finance transactions, remittances, cheque transactions, cash transactions, or Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Singapore AML/CFT regulations, including MAS Notice 626 and related guidelines.
- Understanding of sanctions regulations, financial crime risks, and trade-based money laundering indicators.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with the ability to identify unusual transaction patterns and assess potential risks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare investigation reports and compliance recommendations.
- Good stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across Business Units, Operations, and Compliance teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment.
