What is this position about

The Compliance function is at the heart of BNP Paribas risk management.

One of the pillars of the Group's internal control setup, Compliance teams work both independently and in close partnership with the Business to adapt to the evolution of the Group's activities and the requirements of the regulators.

Compliance teams contribute to maintaining the reputation of BNP Paribas and the trust of our clients, thanks to their strong control of non-compliance risks, allowing everyone to work with confidence.

In this role, you will

The Compliance Regulatory Reporting Lead Coordinator, APAC shall be a key contributor to the enhancement of the regional Compliance framework in Asia Pacific, involved in process optimization and remediation actions.

The focus of the role is on strengthening the regulatory reporting framework from a Compliance perspective, and to contribute to Compliance Supervisory Affairs practice notably in terms of outsourcing assessment and digital compliance advisory.

Regulatory Reporting

  • Framework Development & Implementation
    In close collaboration with 1LoD, Legal, RISK and Compliance stakeholders (Territory and Business/Domain Compliance, Compliance Market Integrity Transaction Reporting team), contribute to the reinforcement of the regional regulatory reporting framework by coordinating the design and implementation of a robust compliance framework for regulatory reporting, ensuring that regulatory obligations are met.
  • Process & Tool Optimisation
    Partner with 1LoD and with Compliance Transformation, Innovation & Analytics team to enhance workflow efficiency and to improve the systems supporting regulatory watch and regulatory reporting and their interactions/linkage.
  • Aim at ensuring that each new regulatory report is associated with a clear regulatory reference and Compliance assessment.
  • Aim at remediating the records of past regulatory reports which may not have a reference to regulatory expectation / record in the regulatory watch system. Seek automation of data processing as much as possible, in order to limit the impact on staff workload.
  • Remediation
    When significant issues are identified, lead remediation actions on Compliance side as needed, to address gaps identified in regional & local setups, in close collaboration with regional and local experts. Lead / contribute to focused reviews and corrective actions on specific reports if needed, in coordination with Compliance TRM, RISK ORM and 1LoD.
    Participate to read-across initiatives to ensure global reinforcement of the Group regulatory reporting framework.
    Follow up on incidents leading to regulatory notifications and consequent remediation actions.
  • Risk Management
    Contribute to the definition and execution of the compliance control and periodic testing framework for regulatory reporting across APAC, in close coordination with RISK and Compliance TRM teams.
    Contribute to the identification and execution of thematic reviews in order to address major areas of risks.
    In collaboration with LOD1 Regulatory reporting, RISK ORM and Compliance TRM, define the list of reports to be reviewed by the respective departments over the year.
  • Training / Accountability of Compliance teams
    Ensure proper awareness of Compliance staff community on regulatory reporting framework, including expectations vis a vis Compliance teams reflected in regional RACI.

Other responsibilities as part of the Compliance Supervisory Affairs team

Compliance Outsourcing Assessment

  • Regional Oversight
    Participate in the review and validation of new proposed outsourcing arrangements from a regional Compliance perspective, in order to ensure adherence to regulatory expectations.
    Partner with local Compliance experts to ensure that local regulatory expectations are adequately identified, consolidated at regional level and taken into account.
    Ensure operational efficiency by aiming at performing regional-level assessments, as much as possible, rather than systematic local-level assessments.
  • Contribution to Global framework
    Support the development and implementation of the global outsourcing framework, ensuring APAC-specific Compliance considerations are incorporated and adopted in the global process.

Digital Compliance Advisory

  • Project Review
    Contribute to the assessment and validation of proposed IT initiatives (e.g. e-banking platforms, AI use cases) from a regional compliance standpoint, to ensure adherence to regulatory expectations.
    Partner with regional (Domain/BL Compliance) and local Compliance experts to ensure that Compliance risks and regulatory expectations are adequately identified, consolidated at regional level and taken into account.
    Ensure operational efficiency by aiming at performing regional-level assessments, as much as possible, rather than systematic local-level assessments.
  • Digital Risk Framework
    Develop and implement the compliance control framework for digital projects in APAC, in collaboration with IT, RISK, Business, and other Compliance domains.
  • Global Engagement
    Actively participate in the global digital compliance community, sharing regulatory updates and key developments with stakeholders in EMEA & AMER and making sure that APAC's voice is heard.

What is required for you to succeed

  • General knowledge of or exposure to banking regulatory frameworks, understanding of Compliance and control matters.
  • Good communication skills and command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to interact with both experts and generalist senior management
  • Ability to foster cooperation within a large community of stakeholders across APAC region, notably at 1LoD and Compliance level

Specific Qualifications Required

  • 5+ years experience in Banking / Finance with exposure to regulatory reporting, regulatory compliance or supervisory relations
  • Experience in coordination, reporting and communication with senior management
  • Experience in Compliance, risk, audit, control
