Key Responsibilities
1. BOM & Requirement Management
- Review customer BOM and ensure compliance with Approved Vendor List (AVL)
- Validate part numbers, specifications, and sourcing feasibility
- Manage BOM updates driven by ECO / PCN changes
- Support RFQ activities including cost roll-up and lead time analysis
2. Sourcing & RFQ Management
- Source materials including: Electronic components (ICs, semiconductors, connectors, etc.)Mechanical/fabrication parts (CNC machining, sheet metal, tooling, plastic injection, die casting)
- Prepare and manage RFQs based on BOM and technical drawings (2D/3D)
- Perform cost comparison, lead time analysis, and supplier capability evaluation
- Identify and propose alternate parts or suppliers with engineering approval
3. Purchasing Execution (PO Management)
- Generate and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in ERP system
- Ensure accuracy in pricing, quantity, specifications, and delivery commitments
- Track order confirmations, shipment status, and delivery schedules
- Expedite materials to support production plans and customer builds
4. Supplier & Vendor Management
- Develop and manage relationships with:OEMs, authorized distributors, and brokers (for electronics)Fabrication vendors and machine shops (local and regional)
- Evaluate supplier capability (technical, capacity, quality standards)
- Monitor supplier performance (On-Time Delivery, responsiveness, quality/PPM)
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, MOQ, and supply commitments
5. Shortage & Risk Management
- Monitor material shortages and supply risks
- Drive recovery plans, including:Expediting shipmentsAlternate sourcingSpot buys (if necessary)
- Escalate critical issues impacting production or delivery
6. Cost & Margin Management
- Achieve cost targets and support PPV (Purchase Price Variance) improvement
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through:Alternate sourcingVolume leverageDesign for Manufacturability (DFM) and value engineering (VA/VE)
- Support competitive costing for customer RFQs
7. NPI (New Product Introduction) Support
- Support sourcing strategy for new product builds
- Assess component lifecycle (EOL / NRND) and fabrication feasibility
- Engage suppliers early for cost, tooling, and lead time planning
- Coordinate prototype builds, sample qualification, and supplier selection
8. Inventory & Delivery Management
- Ensure material availability to meet production schedules
- Manage inventory levels including safety stock and buffer stock
- Monitor excess & obsolete (E&O) and customer liability stock
- Align procurement activities with forecast and demand planning
9. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure sourcing from authorized suppliers to mitigate risks (e.g., counterfeit parts)
- Work with QA on supplier quality issues (NCR / SCAR) and corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements (e.g., RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals)
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Minimum 2-5 years of purchasing experience in EMS / manufacturing environment
- Experience in both electronic components and mechanical/fabrication sourcing is preferred
- Ability to read BOM, technical drawings, and specifications
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Familiar with ERP/MRP systems
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Skillset(s) Requirement:
