Commissioning Engineer (ControlLogix PLC)

Our client is seeking a Commissioning Engineer with strong hands-on experience in PLC hardware and software systems, particularly ControlLogix platforms. This role involves commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting automation systems at both factory and site levels, covering end-to-end hardware and software integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission, test, and support PLC-based automation systems during FAT, SAT, and site commissioning.

• Install, configure, test, and maintain PLC hardware, including I/O modules, control panels, and field instrumentation.

• Develop, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and HMI/SCADA software, including:

  • Studio 5000

  • FactoryTalk View (SE / ME)

  • FactoryTalk Historian

  • FactoryTalk AssetCentre

• Integrate PLC systems with third-party devices using Modbus and OPC UA communication protocols.

• Perform system diagnostics, fault analysis, and root cause troubleshooting during commissioning and post go-live support.

• Collaborate closely with electrical, instrumentation, and SCADA teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.

• Prepare and maintain commissioning reports, test documentation, as-built drawings, and technical manuals.

• Provide on-site and remote technical support for both hardware and software-related issues.

Required Technical Skills

• Proven hands-on experience with ControlLogix PLC hardware and software, including field devices.

• Strong working knowledge of:

  • Studio 5000

  • FactoryTalk View (SE / ME)

  • FactoryTalk Historian

  • FactoryTalk AssetCentre

• Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA.

• Solid background in application maintenance and production support.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and system integration layers.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Advanced expertise in ControlLogix PLC programming and architecture.

• Experience in manufacturing, semiconductor, or process industries.

• Exposure to SCADA systems, historians, and industrial networking.

• Prior site commissioning and project-based support experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.

• 3-8 years of relevant experience in PLC software application commissioning and project execution.
