Job Description

Commissioning & Workshop Technician

Company: Pacific Engineering & Services Pte Ltd
Industry: Marine Equipment / Engineering
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Location: Singapore
Working Environment: Warehouse / Workshop / Customer & Vessel Sites

About the Company

Pacific Engineering & Services Pte Ltd is a Singapore-based company specialising in the supply, servicing and commissioning of marine pumps, water treatment plants, deck equipment and related marine equipment.

We are looking for a hands-on and versatile Commissioning & Workshop Technician to join our team.

This is a practical technical position combining workshop, warehouse and field commissioning responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at our warehouse/workshop. Commissioning and site work will be required from time to time when projects arise.

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on and versatile technician to join our team. The role combines workshop, warehouse and occasional field commissioning responsibilities. Candidates with mechanical, electrical, marine or industrial equipment experience are welcome.

This position is primarily workshop/warehouse based. Commissioning and site work will be carried out when projects arise.

The role is suitable for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on technical work and is comfortable working across both mechanical and electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Field Service

  • Attend vessels, shipyards and customer sites for commissioning and service work when required.

  • Commission, test and troubleshoot marine pumps, water treatment systems and related equipment.

  • Assist with equipment installation, start-up and functional testing.

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair work.

  • Liaise with customers, shipyards, contractors and project personnel.

  • Prepare service and commissioning reports.

  • Travel locally and overseas when required for project assignments.

Workshop & Technical Work

  • Assemble, dismantle, inspect, service and repair marine pumps and related equipment.

  • Carry out pump and equipment testing before delivery to customers or project sites.

  • Perform mechanical fitting, maintenance and troubleshooting.

  • Assist with piping, fitting and other workshop activities.

  • Use workshop tools and equipment safely.

  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop.

Electrical & Controls

  • Carry out basic electrical testing and troubleshooting.

  • Assist with electrical wiring, connections and termination where competent.

  • Test motors, control panels, sensors, switches and related components.

  • Read and understand basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Work together with electrical specialists or contractors where more advanced electrical work is required.

Warehouse Operations

  • Receive, inspect, organise and store pumps, equipment, spare parts and materials.

  • Assist with picking, packing, loading and unloading of equipment.

  • Prepare equipment and spare parts for customer deliveries and projects.

  • Assist with stock checking and inventory control.

  • Maintain proper organisation and identification of equipment and stock.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline is preferred.

  • Candidates with relevant hands-on technical experience will also be considered.

  • Experience with marine equipment, pumps, motors, water treatment systems or industrial machinery is an advantage.

  • Good mechanical troubleshooting skills.

  • Basic electrical knowledge and troubleshooting ability.

  • Able to read basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.

  • Comfortable working with hand tools and workshop equipment.

  • Willing to perform both workshop and warehouse duties.

  • Willing to travel to vessels, shipyards and customer sites when required.

  • Able to work independently and solve practical technical problems.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a practical, hands-on and adaptable technician rather than someone whose role is limited to office-based engineering work.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable moving between:

Warehouse → Workshop → Equipment Testing → Repair & Maintenance → Vessel/Site Commissioning

A strong mechanical technician with basic electrical knowledge is welcome. Likewise, an electrical/mechatronics technician with good mechanical aptitude will be considered.

The ability to work across both disciplines is highly valued.

Important Note About the Role

Commissioning and site work is project-based and is not required on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will be primarily based at our warehouse/workshop and will support workshop and warehouse operations when there are no commissioning assignments.

This position therefore suits someone who enjoys a varied, hands-on technical role rather than a position focused exclusively on site commissioning.

Why Join Us

  • Exposure to a wide range of marine pumps, water treatment systems and marine equipment.

  • Opportunity to develop both mechanical and electrical technical skills.

  • Combination of workshop, warehouse and field experience.

  • Opportunity to travel and work on vessels, shipyards and marine projects

  • Practical and varied day-to-day responsibilities.

  • Potential to develop into a senior technical/commissioning role with experience.

How to Apply

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume/CV detailing their relevant technical experience, qualifications and previous work involving mechanical, electrical, marine or industrial equipment.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
