Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced commercial professional to lead the implementation and ongoing management of a long-term Time Charter Party supporting its LNG operations.

The successful candidate will oversee commercial readiness before commencement and subsequently manage charter administration, operational performance, financial exposure, claims, governance and key stakeholder relationships throughout the charter period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and manage the commercial contract framework for the full lifecycle of the LNG Time Charter Party.
  • Translate contractual obligations into effective processes, controls, SOPs and reporting requirements.
  • Lead commercial readiness activities covering mobilisation, commissioning, acceptance testing and commencement of charter.
  • Oversee charter administration, including charter hire, off-hire, contractual notices, variations, claims and document control.
  • Work with Marine, Terminal Operations and LNG Scheduling teams to support reliable operations and optimise terminal utilisation.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs covering availability, operational reliability, service levels and contract compliance.
  • Manage charter-related budgets, forecasts, financial exposure and commercial risks in collaboration with Finance and Risk teams.
  • Coordinate contractual claims, disputes, amendments and settlements with Legal and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, internal policies and applicable maritime and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a strong commercial relationship with the vessel owner and lead regular performance and governance reviews.
  • Provide management reporting on charter performance, risks, claims, budgets and key commercial matters.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and identify opportunities to improve commercial and operational performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business, Law, Supply Chain or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in LNG, shipping, offshore energy or maritime commercial operations.
  • Proven experience managing Time Charter Parties or other long-term maritime service agreements.
  • Strong understanding of charter administration, contract governance, performance management, claims and commercial risk.
  • Experience working directly with shipowners, vessel operators and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Exposure to LNG carriers, LNG terminals, LNG shipping or offshore energy projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience in project development, commissioning or operational-readiness activities would be an advantage.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or professional certifications in contract management, maritime law or project management would be beneficial.
  • Strong commercial judgement, negotiation, leadership and stakeholder-management capabilities.
