Overall Purpose:
This role is responsible for preparing cost estimates and commercial proposals, ensuring all contractual requirements within the tender process are met. It also oversees procurement and subcontracting activities for ongoing projects, including vendor selection, negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit cost estimates in line with tender specifications, including coordination with equipment suppliers. Collaborate with the Engineering Design Centre or design teams to confirm that supplier scopes and equipment specifications meet tender requirements.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the marine business environment, including market shifts - such as changes in shipping conditions, oil prices, and competitor activity - and adjust company strategies accordingly.
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies for defined product or solution scopes.
- Support sales efforts with both existing and prospective clients throughout the entire sales and project execution cycle. This includes identifying opportunities, developing solutions, working with internal stakeholders on specifications and proposals, negotiating contracts, managing client relationships, and securing long-term strategic partnerships.
- Engage in business development activities, communicate strategic plans, justify development expenditures, and ensure successful project outcomes.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities within the defined scope and support internal teams with accurate forecasting.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the company's overall performance.
Requirements:
- A degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture is preferred.
- Experience in both commercial and marketing functions.
- At least 6 years of experience in the marine industry with a strong global customer network.
- Solid understanding of commercial and marketing practices within the marine sector.
