As we enter a new phase, we're building an integrated ecosystem for merchants and consumers, driven by advanced technology and a mission to enrich everyday life. Now, we're on the lookout for a professional Commercial Finance Analyst (Lylo)to join us in Singapore. 

 

The Commercial Finance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting strategic and commercial decision-making across the Group's two core business streams:

  1. Point-to-point pre-scheduled transport concierge services (passenger vehicles)
  2. Short-term B2C car hire

This role acts as the financial gatekeeper and strategic partner to the Commercial Team by reviewing, validating, and enhancing commercial P&Ls for new and existing projects across both B2B and B2C models, including short-term initiatives and long-term contracts.

The role is responsible for developing end-to-end value chain economics, maintaining project-level and business unit P&Ls, and delivering insight-driven analytics and management reporting that highlight profitability gaps, optimisation opportunities, and risk areas to guide core commercial and investment decisions.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities (Commercial Finance Analyst):

  • 1. Commercial P&L Review & Governance (New Projects)
  • Review and critically assess commercial P&Ls submitted by the Commercial Team for:
  • New B2B contracts (corporate clients, fleet partnerships, concierge agreements)
  • New B2C initiatives (pricing models, promotional campaigns, new routes or locations)
  • Short-term pilots, tenders, and long-term contractual projects
  • Validate key assumptions including:
  • Pricing and yield
  • Volume forecasts and utilisation
  • Cost drivers (vehicle, driver, fuel, insurance, maintenance, overhead allocation)
  • Margin sustainability and breakeven timelines
  • Challenge commercial inputs constructively and ensure financial discipline, accuracy, and alignment with overall business objectives
  • Assess downside risks, sensitivities, and scenario impacts prior to management approval

  • 2. Value Chain Development & Cost Architecture
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end value chain models for both business streams, including:
  • Revenue levers
  • Direct and indirect cost structures
  • Fixed vs variable cost frameworks
  • Contribution margin and unit economics
  • Map and quantify cost leakage points and inefficiencies across the value chain
  • Partner with Operations, Fleet, and Commercial teams to refine cost attribution and improve margin visibility
  • Ensure value chain models are scalable and adaptable as the business grows or evolves

  • 3. Project & Business Unit P&L Ownership
  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve:
  • Project-level commercial P&Ls
  • Overall business unit P&Ls for both transport services and car hire
  • Track actuals vs forecasts on a monthly basis and provide:
  • Variance analysis
  • Root-cause explanations
  • Forward-looking outlooks
  • Identify performance gaps, margin erosion, and upside opportunities with actionable recommendations
  • Support pricing reviews, contract renewals, and renegotiations with data-driven insights

  • 4. Management Reporting & Commercial Insights
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packs covering:
  • Revenue and margin performance
  • Cost trends and variances
  • Project profitability
  • ROI and payback metrics
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, concise commercial insights for senior management
  • Develop presentations and dashboards to facilitate:
  • Go / no-go decisions on new projects
  • Pricing and investment decisions
  • Strategic planning discussions
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner in commercial forums and management meetings

  • 5. Continuous Improvement & Strategic Support
  • Proactively identify opportunities to:
  • Improve profitability and cost efficiency
  • Optimise pricing structures and commercial terms
  • Enhance financial modelling and reporting processes
  • Support ad-hoc commercial analysis, strategic initiatives, and business cases as required
  • Contribute to the development of standardised P&L templates, assumptions libraries, and financial governance frameworks

 

Your Day-to-Day Adventures (Commercial Finance Analyst)

Daily Responsibilities

Commercial P&L Review & Support

  • Review new project P&Ls submitted by the Commercial Team for B2B and B2C opportunities
  • Validate key assumptions including:
  • Pricing, volume, and utilisation rates
  • Vehicle, driver, fuel, insurance, maintenance, and overhead costs
  • Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or overly optimistic assumptions and revert with clarifying questions or recommended adjustments
  • Run quick sensitivity checks on pricing, volumes, and costs to assess downside risk
  • Support Commercial Team with on-the-fly financial inputs during pricing discussions and client negotiations

Financial Modelling & Analysis

  • Update and maintain project-level financial models as new data, costs, or contract terms emerge
  • Track actual performance against forecast for live projects and flag early warning indicators
  • Perform ad-hoc profitability analysis for:
  • New routes, locations, or vehicle types
  • Promotional campaigns or pricing changes
  • Contract renewals or extensions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise daily with:
  • Commercial Team on deal structures and pricing
  • Operations and Fleet teams on cost drivers and utilisation
  • Finance/Accounting on actuals, accruals, and cost classifications
  • Clarify operational realities to ensure financial models reflect real-world execution

Weekly Responsibilities

Value Chain & Cost Tracking

  • Review weekly cost trends across both business streams:
  • Transport concierge services
  • Short-term car hire
  • Analyse unit economics (per trip, per vehicle, per day, per contract) and identify cost leakage
  • Update value chain models to reflect changes in:
  • Fuel pricing
  • Fleet mix and utilisation
  • Labour or vendor costs

Performance & Variance Analysis

  • Conduct weekly variance analysis:
  • Actual vs forecast revenue and margin
  • Cost overruns or underperformance by project or business line
  • Prepare concise performance summaries for internal commercial discussions
  • Recommend corrective actions to improve margins or reduce costs

Stakeholder Check-Ins

  • Participate in weekly Commercial and Operations meetings to:
  • Provide financial insights
  • Highlight risks and opportunities
  • Support go/no-go decisions on new initiatives

Monthly Responsibilities

P&L Ownership & Management Reporting

  • Own and maintain monthly project and business unit P&Ls
  • Reconcile commercial P&Ls with finance actuals and explain variances
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packs, including:
  • Revenue and margin trends
  • Cost breakdowns and movements
  • Project profitability and ROI
  • Present key insights, risks, and recommendations to management

Forecasting & Planning

  • Update rolling forecasts based on:
  • Actual performance
  • Pipeline updates from Commercial Team
  • Operational changes or cost updates
  • Refresh breakeven, payback, and ROI metrics for ongoing and new projects

Commercial Decision Support

  • Provide financial recommendations for:
  • Pricing adjustments
  • Contract renewals and renegotiations
  • Fleet deployment decisions
  • Support management with scenario modelling for strategic decisions

Ad-Hoc / Ongoing Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve and standardise:
  • Commercial P&L templates
  • Value chain and cost allocation frameworks
  • Assumption libraries and modelling methodologies
  • Automate or streamline recurring analysis where possible

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure financial assumptions and P&Ls comply with internal commercial and financial governance standards
  • Highlight financial risks, margin erosion, or structural profitability issues early

What a Typical Day Might Look Like

  • Reviewing a new B2B transport contract P&L submitted by the Commercial Team
  • Updating a car hire unit economics model based on latest utilisation data
  • Discussing cost variances with Operations and Fleet teams
  • Running pricing sensitivity analysis ahead of a management approval meeting
  • Preparing summary slides to support a go/no-go commercial decision

Output & Deliverables (Day-to-Day)

  • Reviewed and validated commercial P&Ls

 What Makes You a Perfect Fit 

  • Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline
  • Professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, CFA) is an advantage
  • Experience
  • 3–6 years of experience in commercial finance, FP&A, or business analytics
  • Prior experience in automotive, transport, mobility, logistics, or asset-heavy businesses strongly preferred
  • Proven experience reviewing and building commercial P&Ls and financial models
  • Exposure to B2B and B2C commercial models is highly desirable
