About the role
We are looking for a Finance Advisor to join our Commercial Finance team here in Rio Tinto's Commercial Hub in Singapore. This role is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional with the passion and desire to drive planning and performance management at a large, dynamic and complex business, with proven engagement and influencing skills and highly demonstrated ability to run financial analysis, planning processes and to identify opportunities to deliver results.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner Lead - Planning and Improvement, you will:
Support the setup of an independent revenue generating unit in Commercial for third party trading
- Partner with controllership, tax, legal and treasury to ensure the set up of an independent revenue generating unit in Commercial to track performance of third-party trading
- Develop principles to support clear P&L accountability between third party vs equity tonnes, ensuring product group is made whole
- Partner with the other enabler workstreams to support ramp up of third-party trading
- Proactively support working capital requirements of the third-party trading ambition over time by partnering with business and treasury to ensure that working capital requirements and the returns are well understood
Support the planning process to execute our strategy
- Supports the Commercial planning process with information and insights valuable to leadership in terms of Revenues, profitability, working capital, value drivers and costs.
- Support Commercial performance management and value drivers, including cost discipline across the entire commercial organisation (Buy, Sell, Move and Enable).
- Proactively drive financial analysis and influence outcomes through providing insightful analysis.
- Support the evolution of performance management processes and forward-looking KPI's - tracking key value drivers that align to Commercial and Group objectives.
Partner with the business to drive cost ownership, value delivery and improvement initiatives
- Providing insights to Group's working capital to provide leadership with input and influence strategy for cash conversion and value strategy.
- Provide cost performance reporting and support to Commercial leaders.
- Drive initiative tracking, reporting and development of valuation methodologies to measure value delivery and support development of new initiatives.
- Focus on developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across the business.
Optimise Finance Business Partner processes and practices
- Strongly exhibit Rio Tinto's value for continuous improvement and excellence, helping to optimise FBP practices that contributes to Commercial's success.
- Work with Group through the delivery of the modern ERP to ensure fit for purpose systems, processes and reporting.
- Constantly drive to automate and streamline processes and challenge the existing ways of doing things.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Bachelor and/or professional qualification e.g., MBA, ACA, CPA.
- 10 years + significant finance and commercial experience within a global organisation.
- Experience effectively managing and influencing a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Analytical and strategic forward-thinker.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with capacity to work autonomously.
- Expertise across a full range of standard business and finance tools (SAP, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, etc.)
- Strong capability to effectively prioritise and possess excellent organisational skills
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience working with Rio Tinto's finance processes and systems (e.g., SAP and HFM).
- Procurement experience reflected in understanding of procurement practices and performance metrics, however not essential.
