Job Description

Description

Our client is a global aquaculture business providing advanced breeding, genetics and specialised hatchery nutrition solutions. The company supports hatcheries and producers across international markets in improving biological performance and farm-level outcomes.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Commercial Director will lead a team across sales, marketing and technical service. While most of the business is currently concentrated in Asia, the role will have a global mandate, including expansion into new markets.

This is a strategic yet hands-on commercial transformation role. The individual will lead the company's commercial strategy across marketing, new customer acquisition, existing-account growth and customer retention, with responsibility for portfolio positioning, pricing, route-to-market strategy and the Sales and Marketing P&L.

A key priority will be translating technical performance and farm-level outcomes into compelling customer value propositions. The Commercial Director will ensure that products are positioned and priced appropriately based on customer value, competitive dynamics and biological production constraints.

The individual will strengthen sales and marketing execution across direct and distributor-led markets, establish clear KPIs and commercial cadence, and build the necessary CRM, customer-data and forecasting capabilities. Close partnership with production will be essential to align demand forecasts with hatchery and broodstock capacity, minimise supply-demand imbalances and protect margins.

The role will also oversee key account development, customer retention, market-entry strategy and commercial capability building across the organisation. It offers scope to progress into broader C-suite commercial leadership as the business evolves.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial leader with a strong track record across sales, marketing, business development, key account management and customer retention. The individual should have led multi-country teams and commercial transformation within a technical, biological or production-led business.

Experience selling animal genetics would be particularly relevant. Candidates from poultry, swine, cattle, fish or other animal-genetics businesses could be suitable because the commercial mindset is similar: selling genetic performance and long-term production outcomes rather than simply selling a physical product.

Candidates from the broader aquaculture sector would also be highly relevant. Individuals from animal nutrition, animal health or agri-inputs may be considered if they possess strong product-positioning, value-selling, pricing and regional commercial leadership capabilities.

The successful candidate must combine strategic thinking with a hands-on and structured leadership style. Experience in P&L management, distributor management, forecasting and alignment with production capacity will be important.

This opportunity will ideally be based in Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand and will require regular international travel. For exceptionally suitable candidates, alternative locations in Asia could be considered.
