Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial / Contracts Manager to lead our Commercial Department. The role oversees tendering, contract administration, quantity surveying, cost control, claims management, and commercial risk management for ERSS, geotechnical, foundation, and civil engineering projects.
The successful candidate will drive commercial strategies, ensure effective contract execution, and safeguard the Company's commercial interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Commercial team, including Tender, Contracts, and Quantity Surveying functions.
- Oversee tender preparation, pricing, submissions, negotiations, and contract award processes.
- Review tender documents, drawings, and contract conditions to identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Manage client contracts, subcontract agreements, variations, claims, EOT submissions, and final accounts.
- Monitor project budgets, cost control, forecasting, cash flow, and profitability.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to project teams throughout project execution.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams to achieve project objectives.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Commercial team to achieve departmental objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and standard forms of contract, including PSSCOC, FIDIC, and SIA.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of commercial experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven experience managing commercial functions for ERSS, geotechnical, foundation, or civil engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of tendering, quantity surveying, contract administration, cost control, claims, variation orders, and EOT management.
- Good understanding of Singapore construction contracts and standard forms, including PSSCOC, FIDIC, and SIA.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract negotiation, risk assessment, and project profitability management.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and make sound commercial decisions.
