This is a strategically important role within the regional finance function, offering exposure to multiple markets and cross-functional commercial teams.
Role Overview
The Commercial Finance Manager will be the key finance business partner to Sales, Marketing, and Trade Marketing teams. The role's mission is to drive profitable growth by delivering insights, analysis, and guidance to optimize pricing, promotional investments, and channel performance.
You will report to the Senior Finance Manager - SEA and support P&L management and commercial decision-making for the Singapore market, with visibility into regional initiatives across SEA markets.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Act as the finance partner to Sales, Marketing, and Trade Marketing teams to provide actionable insights on revenue, gross margin, and profitability.
- Lead pricing analysis, value chain assessments, and channel profitability studies to identify growth opportunities.
- Support annual pricing reviews, benchmarking, and implementation of commercial terms with customers or channels.
- Evaluate promotional plans, trade investments, and customer claims to optimize ROI and protect margins.
- Partner Legal and Commercial teams to review contracts, ensuring financial risk is managed.
- Monitor accounts receivable, credit exposure, and cashflow targets.
- Month-End & Accounting Support
- Prepare accruals for trade investments and marketing spend.
- Ensure accurate revenue recognition, including revenue deferrals where required.
- Support month-end journal entries and reporting to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Business Performance Management
- Track and report on market and brand performance.
- Analyze shipment vs depletion and stock-in-trade trends to guide commercial decisions.
- Prepare P&L variance analysis and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
Forecasting & Planning
- Partner with commercial, marketing, and supply functions for monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic planning cycles.
- Identify risks and opportunities and drive gap-closing initiatives.
- Process Improvement & Leadership
- Recommend improvements to forecasting, reporting, and pricing processes.
- Mentor and manage junior finance staff as required.
- Promote commercial financial awareness across the business.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business professional finance qualification (CPA / CA / ACCA / CIMA) is a plus.
- 5-10 years experience in commercial finance / FP&A within FMCG, consumer goods, or related industries.
- Proven track record of business partnering with Sales and Marketing teams to influence commercial decisions.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing, trade investments, and customer profitability.
- Advanced Excel skills ERP / SAP experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across geographies.
