CNC Turning Programmer & Machinist in a precision engineering environment, responsible for programming and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-accuracy components according to drawings and quality standards.
Create and modify CNC turning programs (e.g. using UG/NX or other CAM) from 2D drawings and 3D models for precision-turned parts.
Set up and operate CNC turning centers (Fanuc or similar controls), including chucking/fixturing, tool setup, wear offsets and program prove-out.
Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and GD&T to define machining sequence and critical dimensions.
Perform first-article and in-process inspections using measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, height gauges) and adjust programs/offsets as needed.
Monitor machining process, optimize cutting conditions to improve cycle time, tool life and surface finish, and troubleshoot machining issues.
Maintain machine housekeeping, basic daily maintenance, and proper documentation of setup sheets, tool lists and inspection records in line with company and ISO 9001 procedures.
Experience as CNC Turner / CNC Turning Programmer & Machinist in a precision machining environment.
Proficient in CNC turning programming (manual code or CAM) and confident operating Fanuc-controlled lathes.
Strong understanding of turning processes: roughing/finishing, threading, grooving, boring, drilling and parting.
Able to read and understand 2D drawings and 3D models with tight tolerances and GD&T.
Hands-on experience with precision measuring tools and in-process self-inspection.
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
