Cloud Database Engineer

Job Description

. We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support both on-premises and cloud-based database environments.

. The role involves ensuring database availability, performance, security, and reliability across enterprise systems.

. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in database administration, cloud migration, automation, and disaster recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities:

. Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud databases, including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, AWS RDS, and AWS Custom RDS.

. Configure and support database clusters and high availability setups, including Always On availability groups.

. Plan and execute database migrations from on-premises environments to cloud platforms such as GCC.

. Perform database maintenance activities, including patching, upgrades, and technical refresh of database systems.

. Manage backup and recovery processes, including Windows backups and RMAN backups, ensuring data integrity and availability.

. Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline routine database administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.

. Monitor and optimize database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement performance tuning solutions.

. Implement and maintain database security controls, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

. Design and manage Disaster Recovery (DR) setups, and conduct regular DR drills and recovery exercises.

. Work closely with infrastructure, application, and cloud teams to ensure seamless database operations.

Required Skills & Experience:

. Strong experience in database administration for Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.

. Hands-on experience with AWS database services such as AWS RDS and AWS Custom RDS.

. Experience in database clustering, high availability, and failover mechanisms.

. Proven experience in database migration from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.

. Experience with backup and recovery tools such as RMAN and Windows Backup.

. Experience in database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management.

. Knowledge of database performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization techniques.

. Experience in automation and scripting for database administration tasks.

. Hands-on experience in disaster recovery planning, implementation, and testing.
