Job Description

Job Summary

Support the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in the planning, coordination, implementation, and management of clinical research studies, clinical trials, registries, quality improvement initiatives, and grant-funded projects. The Clinical Research Co-ordinator will take a lead role in study operations, grant support, regulatory submissions, project coordination, and research reporting while working closely with Principal Investigators and collaborators.

Key Responsibilities

Research Project Management

  • Coordinate and manage assigned clinical studies, trials, registries, and grant-funded projects.
  • Assist investigators in study design, protocol development, grant applications, and project implementation.
  • Track study budgets, recruitment targets, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Liaise with funding agencies, ethics boards, regulatory authorities, collaborating institutions, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate multicentre studies and external collaborations where applicable.
  • Prepare study reports, grant reports, presentations, abstracts, and manuscripts.

Study Conduct and Data Management

  • Oversee participant recruitment, enrolment, follow-up, and retention activities.
  • Ensure study activities are conducted according to approved protocols and GCP requirements.
  • Manage study databases, REDCap systems, and research records.
  • Perform data validation and support statistical analysis and interpretation.
  • Support publication and dissemination of research findings.

Regulatory and Compliance

  • Lead preparation and submission of DSRB/IRB applications, amendments, annual reviews, and study closure reports.
  • Maintain regulatory documentation and ensure audit readiness.
  • Monitor protocol compliance, adverse events, and protocol deviations.
  • Facilitate monitoring visits, audits, and inspections.

Team Support

  • Provide guidance and training to junior research staff where required.
  • Support development of research workflows and process improvements.

Education

  • Minimum Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Psychology, Healthcare Management, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Prior experience conducting or coordinating clinical research studies is required.
  • Experience supporting or preparing research grant applications is required.
  • Experience with DSRB/IRB submissions, study management, REDCap, and regulatory documentation is preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis, scientific writing, and research reporting will be advantageous.

Special Attributes

  • Strong interest in clinical and health services research.
  • Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and research databases.
  • Knowledge of GCP, research ethics, DSRB processes, grant administration, and research governance.
  • Experience with statistical software and data analysis will be advantageous.
  • Multilingual ability, especially Mandarin and local dialects, will be advantageous.
