Job Description

The Clinical Coder is responsible for establishing and maintaining high-quality Diagnosis-Related Group (DRG) coding standards.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract complete and accurate diagnoses and procedures after a thorough review of day surgery records and assign appropriate ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes.
  • Input data into the clinical coding system.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and data integrity at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals to clarify any incomplete or ambiguous documentation.
  • Participate in internal coding audits and reviews.
  • Maintain consistency in coding by optimizing coding output and quality.
  • Monitor uncoded discharges from OAS system to achieve timely coding and meet subvention deadline.
  • Work with relevant parties to resolve coding-related issues.
  • Participate in continuing education and training of new coders.
  • Keep up to date with coding standards and eye care-specific terminology.
  • Identify and implement new initiatives related to operational processes and service standards.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in Allied Health Science or Medical Science.
  • Candidates with Certificate in ICD-10-AM Coding would have an advantage.
  • Background or qualification as an Optometrist or experience in optometry/eye care would have an advantage.
  • Candidates with at least 1 year of healthcare experience would be preferred.
