Responsibilities

• Review and analyse inpatient and outpatient medical records to extract relevant diagnoses, procedures, and clinical information. Assign accurate ICD-10, SNOMED CT, and procedure codes in accordance with established coding guidelines and international standards. Ensure coding completeness, accuracy, and timeliness to facilitate reporting and billing processes. Clarify documentation with clinicians when necessary to enhance coding accuracy and resolve any ambiguities. Conduct coding audits, quality checks, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Support data validation for national submissions and internal clinical quality indicators. Contribute to coding education for clinicians and relevant stakeholders. Maintain current knowledge of coding standards and classification updates.

Requirements

• Diploma in Health Information Management, Nursing, Allied Health, or a related field. Preferred certification or equivalent training in AHIMA/ICD-10. Experience in clinical coding within an acute hospital setting is advantageous. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical workflows. Meticulous and analytical, with the capability to work independently under time constraints. Effective communication skills for engaging with clinicians and clarifying documentation.
