Cleaning Supervisor - Restaurant

Position Title: Cleaning Supervisor
Department: Housekeeping / Sanitation
Reports To: Restaurant Manager / Operations Manager
Location: High Street Plaza

Job Summary

The Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all cleaning and sanitation activities within the restaurant to ensure a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for guests and staff. This role includes supervising cleaning staff, maintaining cleaning standards, managing supplies, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Cleaning & Sanitation Oversight

  • Supervise and coordinate daily cleaning tasks across dining areas, restrooms, kitchen areas, and staff spaces.

  • Ensure that cleaning schedules are completed thoroughly and on time.

  • Inspect all areas regularly to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Team Supervision

  • Lead, train, and motivate cleaning staff to perform at high standards.

  • Assign shifts and tasks, monitor performance, and provide feedback.

  • Support in recruitment and onboarding of new cleaning staff.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all local health codes, safety regulations, and sanitation policies.

  • Maintain proper use of cleaning chemicals and ensure staff follow safety guidelines.

  • Report hazards, maintenance issues, or safety concerns promptly.

Inventory & Supplies

  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment.

  • Place orders for replacements when required and manage budget usage.

  • Ensure all cleaning machinery is maintained and functioning properly.

Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with kitchen staff and management to coordinate deep-cleaning tasks.

  • Communicate cleaning needs during peak and off-peak hours.

  • Assist in preparing for inspections, audits, and special events.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

  • Experience as a cleaning supervisor, team leader, or similar role.

  • Strong understanding of cleaning and sanitation practices in food service environments.

  • Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and manage schedules.

  • Good communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of restaurant industry standards and health codes.

  • Training or certification in sanitation or occupational safety.

  • Experience using cleaning equipment and commercial cleaning chemicals.
