Description
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation across the childcare centre, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities
Cleaning & Housekeeping
- Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, common areas, kitchen, toilets, and outdoor play areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and surfaces
- Clean and sanitise high-touch areas such as door handles, tables, chairs, toys, and equipment
- Ensure all learning materials and toys are regularly cleaned and disinfected
Sanitation & Hygiene
- Maintain strict hygiene standards in accordance with childcare and health regulations
- Clean and sanitise toilets, wash basins, and diaper-changing areas frequently
- Dispose of waste properly, including diapers and general refuse
Support to Centre Operations
- Assist in setting up and clearing classrooms, dining areas, and activities when required
- Refill supplies such as soap, tissue paper, cleaning materials, and sanitation products
- Support in simple kitchen cleaning duties (e.g. washing utensils, maintaining cleanliness of food preparation areas)
Health & Safety Compliance
- Adhere to workplace safety guidelines and proper use of cleaning chemicals
- Ensure cleaning products are stored safely away from children
- Report maintenance issues, damages, or hazards to the Centre Principal or relevant personnel
Requirements
Prior experience in cleaning or housekeeping preferred (especially in schools, childcare, or healthcare settings)
Able to perform manual cleaning tasks
Knowledge of basic hygiene and sanitation practices
Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently
Good attitude and willingness to support a childcare environment
