Job Description & Requirements
1. Prepare Technical Drawings
- Create detailed 2D and sometimes 3D drawings using software like AutoCAD or Civil 3D
2. Interpret Engineering Designs
- Work from sketches, calculations, and specifications provided by engineers
- Convert concepts into precise technical drawings with accurate measurements
3. Ensure Accuracy and Compliance
- Follow industry standards, codes, and regulations
- Check drawings for errors, inconsistencies, or missing details
4. Revise and Update Drawings
- Modify drawings based on feedback from engineers or project managers
- Maintain updated versions of plans throughout the project lifecycle
5. Coordinate with Project Teams
- Collaborate with:Civil engineersArchitects
6. Prepare Supporting Documentation
- Add notes, labels, dimensions, and specifications to drawings
- Maintain drawing registers and documentation records
7. Site Support (Sometimes Required)
- Visit construction sites to:Verify measurementsUnderstand real-world conditionsAssist with as-built drawingsTechnical Skills Required
- Proficiency in CAD software like AutoCAD
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles
- Understanding of drafting standards and symbols
