What are we looking for

Arcadis has an excellent opportunity for a Civil and Structural Design Engineer involves working as part of a multi-discipline, highly interactive and coordinated team focused on high-tech semiconductor industry project. Projects for our clients include feasibility studies, long-range planning studies, and full design services including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and services during construction for design/bid/build and design/build projects.

The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills. They will exhibit a passion and desire to apply their technical experience and knowledge in a team environment on technically challenging and professionally rewarding projects. Our team is seeking a person who understands the importance of meeting their targeted commitments while being flexible to the ever-changing and fast-paced environment of our clients sites.

As the Civil and Structural Design Engineer in the high-tech semiconductor industry, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, design, and construction of state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication facilities. This role encompasses both greenfield (new construction) and brownfield (renovation/expansion) projects, where you will support the civil structural design efforts to create cutting-edge, efficient, and compliant semiconductor manufacturing spaces. Your expertise in civil structural engineering will be crucial in ensuring the success and efficiency of semiconductor manufacturing facilities.

This position will support our APAC Regional and Global Semiconductor projects based out of our Singapore office and travel to or station at our client project site on need basis.

Job Scope:

  • The Civil Structural Design Engineer shall be responsible for coordination with Designers and Technicians, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Support the civil and structural design projects for semiconductor fabrication facilities, from conceptual design through construction and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to evaluate potential greenfield sites and assess the feasibility of brownfield expansions, considering factors such as site geology, infrastructure, and environmental impact.
  • Develop comprehensive civil and structural designs, including foundations, building structures, utility support systems, and site layouts, in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross functional multidisciplinary teams, including architects, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and contractors, to integrate civil and structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
  • Ensure that all civil and structural designs meet local building codes, zoning regulations, environmental and safety regulations, and industry specific standards.
  • Incorporate sustainable and energy-efficient design principles into civil structural plans to minimize environmental impact.
  • Identify potential risks related to civil and structural aspects of projects and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and delays.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including responding to Requests for Information, reviewing submittals, and conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Conduct site assessments for greenfield and brownfield projects, evaluating existing structures and infrastructure for integration into new designs.
  • Work closely with project stakeholders to define project objectives and requirements.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and analytical capabilities, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and budgeting related to civil structural design deliverables and be responsible for change control.
  • Meet commitments to clients, individually and as a team, to complete work by committed timelines and within agreed man-hours or cost budgets.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and work with all stakeholders to provide viable solutions to meet the project needs.
  • Be responsible for the technical content and quality of all civil and structural design deliverables.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Experience leading small to large scale project/engineering teams in high-tech manufacturing industry.
  • 8+ years of proven experience in civil and structural design engineering within the high-tech manufacturing industry, with expertise in both greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Must have proven civil and structural design experience on large scale projects.
  • Knowledge of high-tech civil structural processes, equipment, and cleanroom procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance, and building codes relevant to high-tech facilities.
  • Knowledge and application of Eurocode, BSI, IBC and respective country specific design standards and codes.
  • Experience in use of Industry Norm Structural Design Software (Tekla design Suite, AutoCad Design Suite, etc.,).
  • Knowledge of the application of CAD, Revit and Navisworks software for purposes of planning work and monitoring.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to engineers and technicians.
  • Project skills, including planning, budgeting, and team leadership.
  • Ability to interact with other engineering disciplines, clients, and vendors at all levels.
  • Ability to travel to client meetings, presentations, conferences nationally and internationally.
  • Other duties assigned for the project by the line manager.
