Job Description

Chief Operating & Financial Officer

Global Fintech — Payments & Web3 Stablecoin Infrastructure | Reports to CEO | Singapore or Hong Kong

About the company

We are partnering with a high-growth global fintech that is redefining how businesses move money across borders.

By combining modern payments infrastructure with stablecoin technology, the business is building the next generation of global financial connectivity. Its platform enables businesses to issue payment cards, automate cross-border payouts, manage treasury and move funds seamlessly across international markets. Operating at the intersection of traditional finance and digital assets, the company has established strong product-market fit and is now entering an exciting phase of international growth.

About the role

This is a newly created executive role that blends the ownership of a CFO with the operating remit of a COO. The business is looking for a senior, commercially sharp leader with the credibility to sit at the leadership table, challenge thinking and help shape decisions as it scales internationally.

You will own the finance function and act as a genuine commercial partner to the CEO and leadership team - not just a reporting function. In parallel, you will own company operations end to end. The business has strong functional leaders across product, revenue and customer experience, each running their area well, but it does not yet have a senior operator pulling those threads together into one coherent operating rhythm. That is the gap this role fills: bringing structure to how the business sets goals, plans and tracks performance across functions, while owning the numbers that underpin every one of those decisions.

This is a hands-on, dual-mandate role. You will need to be as comfortable in the detail - a model, a KPI dashboard, a resourcing call - as you are in the boardroom. You will report directly to the CEO and sit on the leadership team as one of its most senior voices.

What you'll do

Finance & commercial strategy

  • Take full ownership of the finance function and build it into a genuinely strategic capability, not just a reporting and compliance function.
  • Act as a sharp, trusted commercial adviser to the CEO and leadership team, asking the tough questions on business plans and investment decisions before they get made.
  • Bring rigour to planning and target setting, including revenue and growth targets, and help the business track and hit them.
  • Get close enough to the numbers and the business drivers that you can spot issues and opportunities before they surface elsewhere.

Operations & execution - the COO mandate

  • Own the company's operating cadence - goal setting, business planning and performance tracking against targets - and make sure functions are held to it consistently.
  • Bring structure and consistency to how operations run day to day across the business, working across product, revenue and customer functions rather than owning a single one.
  • Own the systems, processes and resourcing decisions that let other functions move fast, with the ability to make calls with incomplete information and build the operational backbone the business needs as it scales into new markets.
  • Support the business through its next phase of international growth, including decisions on where and how to invest and how the operating model needs to evolve as the company scales.

Leadership & influence

  • Build enough trust and authority that people bring decisions to you before they need to, because they know you will have a view worth hearing.
  • Sit at the leadership table as a genuine partner to the CEO, giving equal weight to the financial and operational sides of the business.

What we're looking for

  • A senior, seasoned leader who has run a finance function before, ideally at a business of meaningful scale or complexity, and who also has real exposure to running or improving business operations - this is a genuine dual-mandate role, not a finance seat with an operations label attached. This is not a stepping stone role: you need the credibility and presence to be trusted early and to hold your own with the CEO and leadership team.
  • A strong commercial finance background. You do not need formal accounting qualifications or an MBA, though either is fine if you have one. What matters is that you understand what drives commercial performance and can translate numbers into decisions.
  • Comfortable coming from a pure finance path, or from a broader strategy or operations background with strong financial acumen. Candidates who have moved from commercial finance into strategy or operations, or the reverse, are equally welcome - what matters is that you can genuinely operate on both sides of this role, not just the finance side.
  • High EQ. You need to be able to challenge people, including the CEO, and get compliance and commitment because people trust your judgement.
  • A willingness to be hands-on. This is not a role where you build a model and hand it off - you will roll up your sleeves, get into the detail, and work alongside the team on both the numbers and the operating rhythm.
  • Comfortable learning a new industry quickly. A web3, crypto, payments or fintech background is useful but not essential if you have the underlying commercial and analytical horsepower to get up to speed fast.

Location

Ideally based in Singapore or Hong Kong. Candidates willing to relocate to Singapore or Hong Kong will also be considered.
