Most Chief of Staff roles position themselves as strategic. In reality, many end up in heavily administrative roles, with project coordination responsibilities hidden behind a broader title. This role is different.
We are partnering with a venture capital firm building something considerably more ambitious than a traditional fund model. Alongside capital deployment and portfolio support, the firm is building long-term operating infrastructure designed around stronger systems, better information flow, operational leverage, and increasingly, AI-native ways of working.
To support this growth, we are hiring a Chief of Staff to one of the Founding Partners.
A core part of the role is owning and continuing to evolve the firm's internal operating system, spanning reporting cadence, accountability frameworks, workflow design, documentation standards, knowledge management, and how information moves across the organisation.
AI-native capability is non-negotiable.
For this firm, AI-native means substantially more than using ChatGPT regularly or completing a prompt engineering course. We mean people who've built systems, automated end-to-end workflows, created internal tooling, integrated platforms, and engineered real operational leverage with modern AI tools, and who rebuild it all when the tools get better.
You should be able to demonstrate practical examples of systems, workflows, automations, tooling, or infrastructure you have personally built that improved speed, visibility, quality, decision making, or execution capability. The technology will continue to evolve rapidly, and we are looking for people who naturally evolve alongside it.
Beyond systems ownership, the role operates as a force multiplier to the Founding Partner.
You will improve visibility into priorities, drive follow-through, strengthen accountability, support decision-making, identify friction before it becomes operational drag, and build infrastructure that allows the organisation to scale without unnecessary complexity.
The role spans broadly across firm operations and requires someone comfortable operating across internal operations, finance coordination, reporting, tooling, project delivery, ecosystem initiatives, and selected communications work. The work spans both strategic priorities and practical execution, with a constant focus on improving how the organisation operates over time.
This role is not administrative, but it does require someone comfortable handling operational work when required. The expectation is not simply getting work done, but improving how work gets done. If something needs doing, you solve it, then build a better system behind it.
What you need to be successful in this role
We are considerably less focused on education or traditional pathways and more focused on evidence of capability. You may come from venture-backed startups, consulting, venture capital, product management, founder-led businesses, operations leadership, or high-growth organisations.
What matters is that you build things, improve systems, communicate exceptionally well, think commercially, operate effectively within ambiguity, and consistently create leverage.
Location: Singapore or Sydney
Travel: Required at times and aligned to the cadence of the Founding Partner
Compensation: Competitive salary plus carry participation aligned to long-term platform growth
Reporting Line: Directly to the Founding Partner
This role is designed for someone who wants to operate at the intersection of AI, systems design, operational leverage, and venture investing while helping build enduring infrastructure rather than simply maintaining existing processes.
