The Chemical Bulk Operations Executive role offers the opportunity to support the execution of global chemical commodity trading operations. This position plays an important role in coordinating logistics, managing trade documentation, and ensuring the smooth delivery of shipments while supporting operational excellence across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Contract Execution: Assist in reviewing chemical commodity contracts and ensure all commercial and operational obligations, including shipment arrangements, nominations, and delivery instructions, are executed accurately
- Logistics Management: Oversee logistics for containerised and dry bulk vessel shipments, including booking, stowage coordination, and voyage planning
- Documentation: Prepare and review essential shipping and trade documents, including Bills of Lading, invoices, packing lists, Certificates of Origin, and MSDS
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary operational interface between suppliers, customers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and surveyors to ensure smooth shipment execution
- Trade Finance: Handle trade finance matters, specifically Letters of Credit
- Claims and Invoicing: Manage logistics-related claims, including demurrage and detention, prepare logistics cost calculations, issue invoices, and monitor payments
- System Integrity: Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the company's trading systems
- Sustainability Compliance: Assist with carbon and sustainability-related documentation, including GHG mass balance calculations for audits
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in commodity trading operations or containerised and dry bulk shipping operations
- Experience in base chemicals or bulk chemical trading will be highly regarded
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong cost analysis, data management, and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgement, discretion when handling confidential information, and a proactive approach to learning
