Job Title: Shipping Container Booking and Bulk Vessel Chartering - (Intern)

About the Role
We are lookingfor a motivated and detail-oriented Shipping Container Booking and BulkVessel Chartering Intern to join our dynamic maritime logistics team. Thisinternship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in theglobal shipping industry, specifically in container booking operations and bulkvessel chartering.
You will supportthe chartering and operations teams in coordinating container shipments anddry/wet bulk vessel fixtures, while learning the fundamentals of internationalmaritime trade, freight markets, and logistics execution.
KeyResponsibilities
Container Booking Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and processing shipping container bookings (FCL & LCL) with major shipping lines (Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM, COSCO, Hapag-Lloyd, etc.)
- Coordinate with shippers, freight forwarders, and carriers for space confirmation, rate negotiation support, and booking amendments
- Monitor sailing schedules, cut-off times, and vessel ETA/ETD
- Prepare shipping instructions, bill of lading drafts, and required documentation
- Track and update container status (empty pick-up, loading, in-transit, discharge)
- Support in resolving operational issues such as rollovers, shortages, or demurrage/detention disputes
Bulk Vessel Chartering Responsibilities:
- Assist in market research and data collection for bulk vessel chartering (dry bulk: Panamax, Supramax, Handymax, Capesize wet bulk if applicable)
- Help prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs) and compare charter offers from shipowners and brokers
- Support the chartering team in voyage estimations, freight calculations, and laytime calculations
- Maintain and update internal databases with market rates, fixtures, and vessel information
- Assist in preparing charter party agreements and addendums (under supervision)
- Monitor vessel positions, market trends, and Baltic indices (BDI, BCI, etc.)
General Responsibilities:
- Provide daily operational support to the Chartering and Operations teams
- Prepare weekly/monthly reports on bookings, fixtures, and market updates
- Maintain accurate records and filing of all shipping documents
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, documentation, finance, and compliance)
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for process improvement
Requirements& Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business Administration, or related fields
- Strong interest in the shipping, maritime, or logistics industry
- Good understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms), shipping documents, and basic freight concepts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages such as Mandarin, Malay, Tamil is a plus)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
