We are looking for a Chartering Manager to lead commercial activities for the fleet, driving fixture performance, managing relationships with charterers, and securing profitable cargo opportunities across key trading routes. This role requires strong market knowledge, negotiation skills, and the ability to operate in a fast paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute chartering strategies for Handy, Supramax and Ultramax, Panamax, and MPP vessels
- Identify, negotiate, and conclude time charter and voyage charter fixtures
- Build and maintain strong relationships with charterers, brokers, traders, and counterparties
- Monitor market trends, freight rates, cargo flows, and competitor activity
- Coordinate closely with operations, technical, and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of fixtures
- Manage risk exposure and support commercial decision making
- Prepare market reports and provide strategic input to senior management
- Expand the company's network within the dry bulk market
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in dry bulk chartering, preferably within an owner-operator environment
- Proven track record in Handy, Supramax and Ultramax, Panamax, or MPP segments
- Strong negotiation and deal-closing skills
- Established network of charterers, traders, and brokers
- Deep understanding of global dry bulk trade routes and market dynamics
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese to effectively communicate with chinese speaking stakeholders for business purposes
- Strong commercial mindset and ability to work independently
