Calculation and pricing of shipping deals. (fixing authority up to 6mos ahead)
Positioning of own and period tonnage.
Improve positions by arbitrage.
Client relationship management including fixing businesses, contracts and project development.
Worldwide communication with other offices, brokers,owners and charterers.
Representation of the company.
Following performance of voyages and work closely with Operations, Bunkers, Port Ops, Fleet and Performance departments.
Travel often to visit clients and other offices. (both domestically and abroad).
Manage an area, clients or trade and lead a team of Chartering Managers.
Improve team's processes in order to boost productivity and efficiency.
Close contact with Macro of the Business Unit (BU) to provide updates on market / exposure.
Mid term macro view with research understanding.
Participate and follow up on management decisions and share with the team.
Set appropriate priorities, goals and targets for the team.
Job Requirements
Minimum 10 years experience in the dry bulk industry. Exposure to Babycapes, Postpanamax, essential.
Degree in Maritime Studies or related field or alternatively completed a fixed term apprenticeship in Shipping or multiple yearts of experience in a shipping company.
Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential for this position.
Aptitude to negotiate and close business deals.
Must possess strong problem solving skills and have the ability to think outside the box.
Exposure to global dry shipping markets in different geographical locations as well as cross size is highly preferred.
Has to be adaptable to an international setting.
A high level of open-mindedness and creativity is necessary for the success of the role.
Possess strong interpersonal skills required to build and maintain relationships with existing and potential clients.
Leadership qualities and empathy needed to head team of multicultural colleagues.
Expertise in international shipping and contract law is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Australian mineral markets (coal and iron ore) as well as other south east Asian countries grain knowledge is a plus.
