Job Summary:
Catastrophe Analysts play a critical role within our business. You will be responsible for monitoring Allied World's exposures against perils and natural catastrophe scenarios across the Asia Pacific region, using catastrophe models and aggregation software.
Reporting to the Senior Catastrophe Analyst in Singapore, and the Global Head of Insurance Catastrophe Modelling, you will work closely with our underwriting departments, running reports, analyzing highly complex data sets, and supporting the handling of data errors and inconsistencies, to optimize company growth and maximize business opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform quality assurance checks on all Statements of Values (SOVs).
· Interpret policy structures and accurately code policy and location data across different lines of business. Apply sound modelling assumptions across multiple classes of business, including Property, Marine, and Construction.
· Collaborate with underwriting teams to obtain complete and timely exposure data for catastrophe modelling and provide feedback on pricing and exposure quality.
· Conduct pre-bind modelling to produce Average Annual Loss (AAL) and exposure summaries at an individual account level.
· Maintain accurate control records for all bound accounts.
· Monitor and track exposures in high-risk catastrophe regions, providing timely insights to local management.
· Produce monthly portfolio analytics and Probable Maximum Loss (PML) reports for consolidated corporate reporting.
· Perform catastrophe analysis to support regulatory reporting requirements and respond to ad-hoc queries.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirement:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
· Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in catastrophe/data modelling within the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance or reinsurance industry.
· Proven hands-on experience with the AIR catastrophe modelling platform.
· Strong proficiency in SQL, with demonstrated experience handling large and complex datasets.
· Solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance terminology, contract structures, and coverage principles.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas).
· Ability to manage multiple priorities, work effectively under tight deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality output.
· Proven ability to collaborate effectively within teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment, with a strong capacity to learn and adapt quickly.
