Position Overview
You will lead the design and evolution of core card acquiring products, with deep involvement in technical integration and compliance certification across international card schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, Amex). This role focuses on driving transaction success rate improvements through data-driven and algorithmic approaches, while enhancing merchant integration standards and onboarding experience.
Key Responsibilities
1. Card Acquiring Product Design & Architecture
- Lead end-to-end architectural design of card acquiring products, building highly available, scalable, and high-success-rate payment processing systems aligned with international card scheme specifications.
- Apply strong understanding of card payment fundamentals to develop robust product frameworks, ensuring excellence in compliance, performance, and user experience.
- Own the integration of new card schemes and acquiring channels, managing the full lifecycle from technical integration and sandbox testing to certification.
2. Payment Success Rate Optimization
- Design and implement optimization strategies targeting high-frequency failure scenarios (e.g., specific BIN ranges, regions, or issuing banks).
- Improve key levers such as smart routing, 3DS authentication flows, and message formatting standards.
- Partner with algorithm teams to build intelligent decision engines using machine learning models (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM), including feature engineering, model training, deployment, and iteration.
- Measure and validate impact through A/B testing, continuously refining strategies to drive measurable uplift in transaction success rates.
3. Merchant Integration & Onboarding Experience
- Analyze transaction failures to identify integration gaps and optimize API specifications and documentation, reducing errors caused by incorrect or incomplete parameter inputs.
- Enhance developer experience by improving clarity, structure, and usability of integration guides.
- Continuously streamline onboarding processes to reduce integration time, improve efficiency, and increase merchant success rates.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery
- Partner with operations, sales, and customer support teams to gather requirements and prioritize product initiatives based on data insights and business impact.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, QA, risk, and algorithm teams to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery of product features.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Data Science, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in card acquiring, payments, or related product roles, with hands-on experience in designing or managing credit card acquiring solutions.
- Strong knowledge of global card payment standards and technologies, including 3D Secure 2.0, tokenization, and PCI-DSS compliance; familiarity with ISO 8583 messaging standards is a plus.
- Experience working with card schemes (e.g., Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay), acquiring banks, or payment service providers is highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of the end-to-end payment lifecycle, including authorization, authentication, clearing, and settlement processes.
- Experience collaborating with data science or algorithm teams; exposure to machine learning concepts (e.g., feature engineering, model training, deployment) is an advantage.
- Strong data-driven mindset, with the ability to leverage data to inform decisions and drive product improvements; proficiency in tools such as SQL, Python, R, or Excel is preferred.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in both English and Chinese, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams (engineering, risk, operations, etc.).
