Job Summary
The Canteen Supervisor leads daily canteen operations to deliver high-quality food service, maintain hygiene standards, manage inventory efficiently, and foster a motivated team. You will ensure compliance with safety regulations while enhancing customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and schedule canteen staff to ensure efficient coverage and motivated performance
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to develop staff capabilities
- Enforce adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations among all canteen personnel
- Oversee food preparation and serving processes to guarantee timely delivery and consistent quality
- Ensure food storage, preparation, and service comply with food safety standards and regulations
- Manage customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally to maintain positive customer relations
- Order and maintain optimal stock levels of food and beverage supplies to support uninterrupted operations
- Perform regular inventory audits to minimize waste and ensure availability of necessary items
- Implement proper food storage and rotation practices to uphold freshness and safety standards
- Collaborate with management or relevant teams to plan diverse daily menus that meet dietary requirements
- Promote a welcoming and positive atmosphere that enhances the customer experience
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and quality throughout the canteen environment
- Manage time effectively to handle multiple operational tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Apply problem-solving and decision-making skills to address operational challenges calmly and efficiently
- Physically stand for extended periods and lift items up to 30 pounds as required in the kitchen and canteen environment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent additional certifications in hospitality, food safety, or management are advantageous
- Previous experience in food service or hospitality with supervisory responsibilities
- Basic knowledge of financial management, including budgeting and inventory control
