The CAM Engineer develops & proves CNC programs in Siemens NX CAM for turning, 5-axis milling, and mill-turn operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and repeatable machining. The role drives productivity through advanced machining strategies, tooling and fixture design, and standardized setups, while collaborating with Process and Quality team to resolve issues and support stable, high-quality production.
Responsibilities:
- Create, modify and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM for turning, 5-axis milling and 5-axis mill-turn operations.
- Select cutting tools, quick-change tool holders, and machining parameters to maximize tool life and cycle time reduction.
- Simulate toolpaths using VERICUT, perform collision checks, and ensure safe and reliable machine operation.
- Prove out CNC programs on the shop floor and support production readiness.
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation such as setup sheets, tool lists, and machining instructions.
- Maintain a centralized, standardized tooling library to improve consistency and reduce setup time.
- Develop and implement hard turning and hard milling processes.
- Design and develop fixtures for lathe, milling, mill-turn operations, enabling quick-change setups.
- Understand an apply zero-clamping systems for repeatable and efficient setups.
- Drive productivity improvements through advanced manufacturing strategies.
- Understand and apply tolerance stack-up and GD&T requirements.
- Collaborate closely with Process Engineer and Quality teams to resolve machining and production issues.
- Read and interpret CMM reports to support process capability and issue resolution.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process-related issues to ensure stable production.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Material)
- Knowledge of CNC machines and tools, including their designs and uses.
- Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 blueprint reading, G-Codes, M-Codes, and CAD/CAM programming.
- Knowledge of tooling and fixturing concepts and standards.
- Demonstrate high level of attention to details.
- Ability to develop and manage a project from concept to implementation.
- Ability to be Flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to analyze information and quickly solve problems.
- Experience with metrology standards and equipment.
