Job Summary

The Buyer Supervisor is responsible for leading procurement and material planning activities while supervising a team to ensure effective execution of purchasing operations. This role drives supply continuity, inventory optimization, and supplier performance, while providing visibility and support to management on key supply chain metrics.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support a team of buyers in daily procurement and planning activities
  • Assign workload, monitor performance, and ensure timely execution of tasks
  • Coach team members on issue resolution, supplier management, and system processes

Procurement & Material Planning

  • Oversee MRP analysis and material planning to support production requirements
  • Review material requests through MRP system and ensure timely issuance of purchase orders
  • Work closely with material planners on demand and supply alignment

Supplier Management

  • Manage electronic and mechanical suppliers across Asia and global regions
  • Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, responsiveness) and drive improvements
  • Lead escalation on critical supply issues and ensure timely resolution

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Provide visibility to management on inventory health (regular, aging, excess, EOL)
  • Analyze inventory lifecycle and prepare regular reports
  • Take ownership of cost change management and support cost control initiatives

Operational Execution

  • Ensure ETA accuracy and drive suppliers to meet committed delivery timelines
  • Resolve discrepancies related to purchase orders, inventory, and vendor transactions
  • Oversee procurement processes including PO issuance, documentation, and compliance

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain reports on procurement, inventory, and supplier performance
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives
  • Support system enhancements and data accuracy improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 8–10 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or material planning within a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience in a team lead or supervisory role is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, inventory management, procurement, and demand/supply planning
  • Solid understanding of supply chain variables such as BOM, lead time, cycle time, and ETA
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiation and stakeholder communication
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics / PCBA manufacturing
  • Experience managing regional or global suppliers
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage critical supply chain issues
  • Continuous improvement mindset (Lean / Six Sigma is a plus)
