Job Description

Our client serves as the APAC regional headquarters (excluding China) for a global leader in battery technology. With a strategic focus on regional operations, marketing, investment, and R&D, the company plays a pivotal role in advancing electric vehicle (EV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) innovations across Asia Pacific.

To further expand its presence in Southeast Asia, the company is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead its market development initiatives in Singapore and Malaysia, a key market in the region's energy transition journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth market research on Malaysia's EV and BESS sectors, including applications in two- and three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and grid-scale energy storage.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and pilot projects within the automotive and energy sectors.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with OEMs, distributors, JV partners, and government agencies in Malaysia.
  • Lead the development of proposals, manage commercial negotiations, and oversee performance metrics for projects and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal product, technical, and R&D teams to align solutions with Malaysian market needs and regulations.
  • Represent the company at conferences, exhibitions, and industry forums in Malaysia and across the APAC region.
  • Provide insights and strategic recommendations to HQ on market trends, competitor landscape, and regulatory developments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, ideally in the automotive, battery, or energy industries.
  • Strong understanding of the Malaysian automotive and energy ecosystem, including EV policy, local OEMs, and regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholder relationships and navigate cross-cultural business environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within Malaysia and across the region.
