We import products from overseas and distribute them to supermarkets, minimarts, and retail chains across Singapore, including major clients such as NTUC FairPrice and Sheng Siong.
Job Summary
Drive revenue growth and expand the customer base by managing import and purchasing activities, developing new business opportunities, and strengthening relationships with key retail clients and distribution partners in the wholesale and distribution sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business development strategies to increase market share in wholesale and distribution
- Identify and secure new clients including supermarkets, minimarts, and retail chains to expand customer portfolio
- Establish and nurture strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and business partners to enhance collaboration
- Manage import and purchasing operations by sourcing products from overseas suppliers to ensure product availability
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply terms with suppliers and customers to optimize profitability and terms
- Analyze market trends, consumer demand, and competitor activities to inform strategic business decisions
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely delivery and maintain stock levels
- Manage sales pipeline, monitor performance metrics, and achieve set revenue targets consistently
- Explore and evaluate new product categories and business opportunities to diversify and enhance product offerings
- Prepare detailed business proposals, reports, and sales forecasts for management review and planning
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in business development, wholesale, or distribution
- Proven experience in import, purchasing, or sourcing from overseas suppliers
- Strong understanding of retail distribution channels in Singapore
- Demonstrated success in client acquisition and driving revenue growth
- Effective negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple business opportunities simultaneously
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience working with supermarket chains, minimarts, or FMCG distribution
- Existing network with retail buyers or distributors
- Knowledge of import/export procedures and supply chain processes
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
